I rode out to see a mate who is in the hospital today. I took the CBR1000.
Sad to see a Guy who has cycled all over the world, in races and for pleasure, following the tour de France,
Looking like a shadow of his former self. Made him laugh, and the rest of the ward, so that was good..

On the way back I was "challenged", by a fella in a big Audi, who shoved in front of me at 70 mph as the road narrowed......needless to say I left him standing at the next opportunity, with two more cars between us. All he had to look at briefly was my unique number plate.
I did think of changing it but then I thought WTH.. :coffeescreen:

Goes well on the Pirelli ST Angels.

152K's / 94 miles to try out my "wrong size" rear tyre. Works fine. Dirt roads on the way out, made entertaining by the grader and water truck working on them!  Back up the twisty back roads up the range.

Tyre is just a little wider and taller. It's noticeable but that's 50-50 it being bigger size and the fact it's new with tall knobblies again. I can tell the difference but it's not a drama. I'll decide before the next one if I go back to stock or not.

Still cold here. Mrs came home a bit after 5am and saw 2 degrees C on the way, locals at the pub say they had a frost overnight. It's bang on mid winter this week.

I usually just ride for pleasure with no real destination in mind but after watching a film (for about the sixth time) I decided to visit all the VC winners from Rorke's Drift.  There are five of the eleven within easy reach for me so I started with the nearest to me, John Fielding or John Williams as he was known in the Army.

Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

I've had the pleasure of meeting two VC recipients Keith Payne and Ben Roberts-Smith at an Anzac Day ceremony. Both have incredible auras around them and both very humble gentlemen. 🙏🙏

I used to live a street away from Billy Sing's grave.
Often had a walk down to pay my respect.

Young lad, used to be a top rabbit shooter as a kid.
Didn't need to go to war for Australia as he was part Chinese part English but was first in the queue to volunteer.

Got a real reputation on the battle field as a sniper, took out a huge amount of the enemy. The Turks thought they'd fix him and shipped in their top sniper, so Billy Sing shot him as well.

The guy that gave so much died alone in a makeshift hut with 5 shillings to his name.

I felt a bit sad, but I'm glad he has a proper grave and monument now.

Bloody cold !
Low temps, strong winds, only an occasional glimpse of the sun down in the low country, cloudy up on the range. The roads were dry but it wasn't as much fun as I'd like.

Brakes weren't dragging with the bike on the stand after I put it back together, I pulled over after 50K's and they were only just warm so I guess the dragging has gone.  They work fine, but don't have the feel of the original discs or pads. The stock version just felt smoother and more progressive. I'll run them like this for a while. When the previous wheels and discs go back on I'll see how that feels. The pads I removed have a lot of meat on them so I can return it all back to how it was.

135K's / 84 miles and I was glad to be home and back infront of the log burner.

On the bright side...  57 rides so far this year and most longer than today.

Same from me. No idea what it means or why it gets attention??

GSXKING

I had a B-King for several years the bloody thing ate rear tyres 🙀💰💰💰.
Sub 10 second quarter mile @9.9+ and got sent home 😖😖.
Raced a friend on a multistrada down Maleny-Kenilworth range and he couldn't pass, then he hit an Armco railing 🚑🚑🚑
Another friend with Desmosedici couldn't pass on MtG road to The Gap, luckily he passed on gambling the pink slips.

I got done doing 150kmh (in second gear) so lost my license and income for 6 months plus $1500 fine. The King was sold very soon after that.
My mum called it "A naughty bike 😈😈".

Ignore the numbers.

Gaay....

grog

Still no idea why would get attention :confused1:

KiwiCol

If you take the numbers out, what's left of the plate number?  The letters GAAY   which would be the reason for the attention I'm pickin.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

It's just a bit of schoolboy humour, but it makes people smile and point, and that's OK with me. Flying the multi-coloured flag in this world full of misery and discrimination. The plate would probably not be allowed to go out these days, more's the pity.
