Under 200 miles to reserve annoys me as you have to stop for fuel before you're ready to get off the bike when touring.

321K's is 200 miles.

Touring, a Busa will do it, a B-King probably wouldn't.

I do tend to stop more now, the inconvenience for me is many rural areas the servo's are a lot fewer and it means the difference between having to stop earlier or hoping to make the next.

Yeah, 200 mile range is good.

Something bikes like the new Kat get criticised for here with its 12ltr tank.

It's why when I was looking at bikes & ended up with the HD I rejected the Indian FTR without even looking at one. I really like them but reports say sub 100 miles to reserve, that's no good to anyone.

Quote from: MickyJB on Wednesday, 08 July  2026, 11:39 PMMy last ride was last Thursday and 90% of the way to where I was going I had to stop on at a T junction on a hill, 1st I've stalled the ZZR and over I went. We don't bounce certainly I don't ...Adrenalin got me going again but the ride home was excruciating ! And the next 3 days the stabs of knife sticking pain was only bearable after tossing a few opioids and diazepam down my throat. Tried sleeping laying down but to painful so the next 3 nights it was the recliner lounge chair. The good news is the bike only copped some minor scratches on the lower section of the fairing and I've already got it looking good from 6' away, when some new decals arrive I'll do the job properly.

Be careful out there, we do not bounce 🤣
hope youre ok Mick, reads like you had a few injuries, perhaps a rib or two?

I tend to practice hill stops now and then, a few steep grades near me, so worth doing. Helps to keep that muscle memory going.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Thanks Eric, more stretched muscles centred around the sternum, landed on my right hip which got replaced 21 years ago so I was concerned about that but it appears just some leg soreness.

It's a wake up call for sure, completely different to having a full on accident .. Hope that never happens ..

Can't recall ever stalling a bike unless it's been the side stand down , definitely a stuff up on my part, no blame any where else,I can foresee me being extra careful for those next few rides. 😄

right foot on rear brake, left foot on ground, in first gear, release clutch, then release rear brake, viola, a hill start.  I do it on both bikes, especially on freeway off ramps, waiting at lights.  Handy on downhill starts too. The rear brake provides a lot of stability.

That's how I used to do them as well Eric, works fine.

Quote from: Mr Gee on Wednesday, 08 July  2026, 09:00 AMDamn, they're getting far, too complicated.  :confused1:

It used to be ignition light, oil light, high beam light, an indicator light and maybe, a neutral.  :notworthy:

It still is. That's just stuff that's there when you want it.
My other Busa has none of it, I ride them both the same.

Think of it more like your car, TV or phone. They have hundreds of things you can set, adjust, use or ignore, more than my bike has. They are there if you want them.
Folk don't hate their cars because the radio has treble and base, the seat has adjustment, the air vents have various setting and angles, the head rests go up and down. They are just things you set and forget.

Not negative about new bikes, love them.  :smitten:

The point is, the more unnecessary stuff you have, the more there is to go wrong and the more expensive it is, to put right.  :whatever:

Plus, everything is interconnected, so, finding any fault, is so much harder. As with the intermittent fault that I have been struggling with until recently. It could have been anyone, of a dozen things.  :onya:

Which makes a suitable OBDII diagnostic tool a must have in the modern workshop.

grog

Which makes GSX14 a mongrel thing because it should've been built with OBD2.
