Excessive tyre wear

So my BMW rear shock decided to lose all rebound a while ago. It was obviously progressive as once it gave up I was pogo stick riding home, solo fortunately.
Anyway I had the Wilber's upgrade done by Alex @ Skinny's Garage and it transformed the handling of the bike.
Now I'm not normally a tight arse lol 😂
In the pics it looks I've been to a trackday. However I assure you it was the premature wear caused by the failing shock, then riding with the refitted Wilber's giving a much better feel to the edge grip.
I'm taking the wheel to my tyre guy, Stu @ Rising Sun motorcycles in Capalaba. Going to go back to a 190/50 Road 6 with the newfound confidence in the rear grip.
We're headed to Tenterfield Bowls Club for our 20th year of Christmas in July on 25/7. Should be scrubbed in before then hopefully 🤞

I just located a puncture repair I did on the side of the road when the tyre was only a few hundred kms old. I'd actually forgotten about it.

Same here Chris, had the WP shocks for the K1300GT rebuilt by Rads, transformed the bike, Wilbers is next level, but 3500 for a set (F&R) is too much for me, unless I can find a decent 2nd hand set.

The Michy PR2's are wearing well, fronts a bit scalloped. Will get Avons next, my tyre guy can get them in about 2 weeks.

Good Ole string puncture repair, they really last, not just a temp plug.

Last ride - I got a rear flat - plugged it (string) and it held all the way home and tested this morning - still at pressure. Now considering remove the tire and patch from the inside - Issue is here many shops won't do it - got to search around as the tire is not that old. Still lots of tread and the puncture was in the meatiest part of the tread.

My record is 5 bits of string in one tyre. I remembered how many were in that rear tyre after a "test day" when I confirmed my old 14 still pulled just off the clock when asked.

Still lots of tread and the puncture was in the meatiest part of the tread.

I don't think I've ever ran more than 1 ! 

I can confirm that my previous H2 didn't go any slower with one though.  It was still in there when I sold it.



I find a mix here, some shops will plug a tyre (tyre off, from the inside) others won't. Not sure about fronts, mine are normally rears.

It's mixed over here too. Some claim it's illegal to plug a Z rated tyre (it isn't) others are happy to do it.

Some here won't do it if they say it's to close to the sidewall.

Aye same here and on cars too. It needs to be near enough flat on the inside for their mushroom shaped bung to seal too.

I have plugged them and rebalance them at home, I bought a balancer of ebay years ago for about $30 AUD.
One only had about 500k's on it and got about 8,000 out of it Perelli GT.
