It's high 20s, reaching 30c over here currently Col. I just ignore her for long enough to drink a cuppa then shammy off. Then wax & polish, by then she's dry anyway.

I'm not getting a leaf blower or owt for her, I'm not Barmy.

To keep this up to date...

48k (miles) service done last Weds. While I was there I took the tank off to tweak the fast idle as it was too high, it might be a tiny fraction low now but it's close enough not to annoy me so I'm not touching it again. With the tank off I thought I'd check the teabag, although I'd been told it'd been done I've experienced all the other quality work on this bike. It was covered in paint flakes so obviously the tank hadn't been rinsed properly since painting. Then I noticed what looked like a rawplug in the outlet pipe to the fuel rail. I didn't get a pic of it in place, but the ID of the pipe is about 6mm & this thing has an ID of about 2mm so would explain the occasional cough when cracking the throttle open & how the bike seemed to slow down a bit when cruising at higher speeds. It's soft, which could be due to petrol but it feels like it should be soft if that makes sense?

Then I rebuilt the front brakes again as they were occasionally a bit soft. My fault, I'd got too much red rubber grease in there, they are excellent again now. No pics of that though, but you all know what it looks like by now.

Then a test run was required.

All successful after a hydration stop.

I went to an archery shop on the Bloo Thing today, I only needed some arrows as I'd snapped several. I thought taking the bike would be cheaper & save money as it's cheap on fuel & I couldn't buy much. That worked until I found arrows are £78 collected when most places are £125 for the same so I'd saved £47 until I saw a nice flat longbow for £59 (which is very cheap for a bow that shoots ok) & ended up buying that too. It's a good job I carry a load of bungees, cargo mat & stuff under the seat all the time as I got some odd looks riding home with it bungeed on my back.

I want to end up trying a proper English warbow, which are silly poundage. The light* ones start at 60-80lb draw apparently, my current long bow is 40lb. This flat bow is 55lb so getting there & having tried it in the shop I can hold it drawn just about ok.

Hooli the Zombie Hunter, new series out soon...
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Immense faith put in the bungee on the arrows, with them pointing that way...  :coffeescreen:

New chain & sprockets on the Bloo Thing today. That'll cure the clunky noise & vibration under my left foot from the stiff links the old chain had. Surprisingly the front sprocket came undone without a massive fight, normally they're an utter twat.

First time I've tried a chain riveter, it helped but still needed two hammers to peen the end of the rivet over properly. The tool makes pushing the side plate on initially a lot easier though, so worth it for that.

Is there actually, anything left of the bike that you originally bought.  :confused1:

And the wheel bearings, most bulbs, brake pads and tyres. Honestly I didn't change that many parts, I just rebuilt everything properly so it works.

All it needs now are decent tyres, but the current S22 Slipstones aren't bald enough to change yet. They seem to work ok as tyres but it arrived with the back square and the front triangular and they've not improved from there.

Hooli

New tyres day for this heap. Horribly worn S22s off, the front was 50p shaped, tramlaned very badly & was horrible on corners too. The rear had a bit of life left but was square since I got it & I prefer to fit tyres in pairs these days. Avon Spirit STs went on, proper tyres I like & prefer to anything else I've ridden a 14 on.

As you can see, the new car is practical as it fits two bike wheels in the boot along with the bits normally in there.

No scrubbing in yet, I couldn't be bothered to put my gear on as I was so hot so that can wait for another day.

Hooli

Oh, before anyone asks. I lift the front on to axle stands under the frame tubes (after removing the shiny exhaust covers) then jack the rear of the the bike with a jack under the centre stand mounts. A third axle stand then goes under the rear spindle as my trolley jack sinks.

Yes, I still need to buy a paddock stand that fits these things.

Finally the pinch bolts for the fork legs got replaced as the heads stripped trying to take them out and I had to hammer a torx in, more cheap stainless crap from the PO. Decent ones with normal allen heads in now (the old ones were tapered) so it looks fractionally better now.

What's the price of 22's for a pair in UK @Hooli ?
Do you check your rims after tyre fitting for scratches etc. ?
