With those carbon Delkevic stubbie cans I bet she sounds loud & aggressive. My 35mm Carbon Delkevic 4:1 sounds loud enough but yours would be louder with more bark, especially pressing on . . .
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Hooli

Aye it's definitely a loud aggressive noise, even better in company with my mate as she's got the same (non carbon) setup so they sound the same.

So I guess you're keeping the fork brace? Bling I'd like but waste of money expensive

Hooli

Yeah it's staying as it is, fork brace n all. I don't think they make any difference but the bling suits it.

It is one thing I get to argue about. The lass I ride with says the writing on it (says 'GSX1400') should be so you can read it stood in front of the bike, I say it should be the right way up that you'd be able to read it sat on the bike, if you could see it.

hmm, I'm with your mate, gotta be able to read it when looking at the bike, not when sat on it.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Hooli

I'm not telling her if anyone agrees with her side of things

Bike looks spot on Hooli, a credit to you for sure

I did a similar project over last winter, mine is a Tiger 1050 which was stuffed away in the corner of a local dealers showroom. It caught my eye & thought I could do something with it, several problems to overcome but got there in the end. A typical bike that had mostly Triumph service history, but had seen no love or care by the previous owners it seemed to me, bare minimum done as per the service schedule but has come out OK I recon and stands me at less than £2K all in

One of the main issues was the cracked headers a common fault on several Triumph bikes, had them welded up but they didn't use a jig so distorted them & wouldn't fit back on, could maybe have got them with some more heat but ended up with a proper bargain! None of the aftermarket suppliers were supplying headers for the pre-sport Tigers & Triumph wanted over £1K for a set, out of chance I spoke with Delkevic Exhausts who had a pre-production set which they sent me, deal was fit them and if all OK they credit 50% back, fitted like a glove, now taking the bike to their factory later this month for some marketing shots to be taken & they are giving me an end can of my choice for the bother that I went to doing a detailed report on the fitting of them, which they have used as their fitting instructions

Sorry for the hijack!

I think @Hooli that you are my doppleganger now for clean bikes with tasteful bling  :rofl2:

In all seriousness though Andy, she's an absolute credit to you, looking really good. Enjoy the praise mate, you 100% deserve it  :onya:  :clapping:  :clapping:
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Hooli

It's definitely not Barmy clean, it's got a long way to go for that. I'll keep gradually improving it, no rush.
I'd still rather be riding it than cleaning it, so I'm still me.

Minor update, I'm reverting the timing mod back to standard. I swapped bikes with my mate the other evening, she's now finally ridden the HD as she kept saying she wanted too. But her 14 is much easier than mine to ride smoothly when going slowly, the only real difference between them that'd affect that is the timing mod. So I'll pop the cover off, move it back & see how much it improves the jerkiness. I know the mod doesn't add any power as chasing two other 14s with the same pipes etc, there was absolutely nothing in it a few weeks ago.

Changing the bars to 789s too. The sweep back on the ones I've got is too much for me, I'm riding on the outside edge of my hands & it's not comfy. Those arrive Monday so I'll do them & the timing mod at the same time.

It'll need a chain & sprockets by winter, they're original at 47k miles & needing adjustment too often. That'll be one less rusty bit

Oh & surprisingly on a run to Whitby & back last weekend it did almost exactly the same MPG as my mate's K5. I've always found early bikes slightly worse on fuel previously due to the different mapping. I've never fitted that PC3 I got so it's using standard mapping.

Yeah about that, I filled up this morning & worked it out to 55.6mpg. Yes we wafted there & back with no rush at all & I've proved the gauge is pessimistic all the way down. It was on one bar & occasionally everything flashing but I only got 16.33 ltrs in. I know the previous owner had been in the tank to do the teabag so I'll fully expect to find the rod to the float bent or something when I check one day.

Mr Gee

He might have been totally, useless but he certainly was thorough. He fu*%^ed up everything, didn't he.  :rofl2:  :happy1:

Hooli

Oh aye, very consistent at least.
