I currently have a Super Start Battery in my 1402. Great battery, lightweight and hasn't needed a charge yet.

Just saw these NOCO units as sold through SCA.  I have a NOCO Genius 5 charger and a lithium jump starter as well, also great gear, very well built and very reliable.

Will be my next Eric. My SSB dealer mate has sold so no more great deals from them.Have been good batteries. Read a review nlp14, 274 cca, not quite the 500 they claim but still heaps. Amazon $254 delivered.

Yeah, couldn't find a NOCO one that suits the BMW (needs a YT19BL or 51913 sized batt).

For the 1402, the NLP14 suits as you say.

That's a great price for SSB.  The 1402 is sorted, its the BMW one I will look for.

I think that today's lithium batteries have an internal protection system that overrides all fears of an overvoltage

@Eric GSX1400K3 which BMW? Have thought about Lithium for my R1250GS, but they are quite a few dollars more than a standard battery and the weight saving is negligible. The standard battery in my R1250GS is a YTX14-BS, which is the same as the one fitted to the GSX1400 with 200CCS; Instead I've fitted the Yuasa YTX14H-BS which is the heavier duty one with 240CCA (Most UK GS riders fit the heavier duty battery). Cheaper than a Lithium one, but gives good service on the GS,

My Beemer is a 2009 K1300 GT. The battery it needs is equivalent to a YT19. The number is 51913.  Rating is 650-700cca, so quite a bit heavier than needed for the 1402.

Biggest issue is the battery sits on top of the fuel tank so a lead acid or agm adds a lot of weight (~6.5kg) up high.

So a lithium SSB works well in that regard, as its only 1.6kg, plus helps with the hot start issue these bikes sometimes have.

To be cereal for a minute, 650-700cca does seem way high to start a 1300cc motorbike, n you say they can be reluctant when hot?  700cca should spin 'em so fast they're running before they know what's happened.

Seems I got some bum info. Sorry.

Attached is the photo of the Odyssey extreme thats currently fitted, CCA170 according to the nameplate, with PHCAof 680 (not sure what that means), plus also a screen shot of the google response.

The SSB lithium is still a 560cca battery, the motobatt a 600cca unit.

That Odyssey stamped 2008, done a great job. Pulse Hot Cranking, basically a 3 second burst of crank power.

Just keep it then. I tested my nearly 4 yr old SSB today, 192cca, going well, was a wrty replacement.

minor correction I think, the black part is the battery retaining clip, part of the bike built in november 2008 for MY2009 release.  Battery i believe is 2018, still not bad going for 8years.
