I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

KiwiCol

I reckon a Harley or Goldwing trike would be a better solution.

@KiwiCol

I've ridden both the Harley and the GoldWing
 there's no comparison.

The GSX is by far the cooler rig!

That's one way to make it heavier for sure😎

Hooli

I'd take a sidecar over a trike any day. A sidecar is still a bike, a trike is a car.

ive said b4, can am available for me to ride anytime, just never bothered. Sidecar, never liked them, cant see the
point.

GSXKING

A couple of veterans I know with buggered knees have CanAm Spiders. The only problem is if they get in front you have very little room for an overtake. They both modified the traction control so they can drift about 15 degrees.

Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

They both get stuck in traffic jams.  :stir:  :whistling:

So do a lot of people who can't ride bikes properly  :lol:

I find it really frustrating when a post gets cluttered without people having read the context first.

This is still a GSX 1400 forum.

And my question was whether anyone else besides me has ever asked themselves: what happens if, due to age, I can no longer safely handle the big bike?

Before I mount motorcycle handlebars onto a walker, I'll ride the GSX with a sidecar.

And nothing else interests me.

Dwain Dibley

I have diligently read from the beginning ( :whistling:  :) )and my comment would be that the extra weight would be a problem for pushing around for me and my garage and sloping drive setup, but if you have the facility for driving in and out of your garage/parking area, then a sidecar is a great idea.

To Infirmity and Beyond.. :-)

@Dwain Dibley

Yes, I can only agree with you, but in the photo you can see that my garage driveway isn't level either.
That's why the rig is always parked in reverse, so I only have to start and go.

By the way, with properly inflated tires, the outfit is easier to maneuver than the solo bike—the weight is stable and not wobbly.

When, due to its weight and my diminishing strength in years to come, I can no longer safely ride the GSX, I will sell it and buy something smaller/lighter.

We're fortunate to have options available to us...smaller bikes, adding a sidecar, or a trike. Personal preference then comes into play, and what others think of our decision is irrelevant.
There's always room in the world for a bit more tolerance and kindness.

I get really, frustrated when people don't realise, we are only, taking the micky.  :stir:  :whistling:

Nasty, we went thru this a while back. Getting older and 14 harder to move around etc. As stated b4 I'm no sidecar fan, just not me. Turned 70, started looking at lighter bikes, just nothing that I really liked.Decided best way was strengthen me, squats, barbells, stretching exercises.I have a fucked hip which doesn't help but have found proper foot, weight positioning helps heaps, together those couple of changes have worked great😎👍
