Quote from: grog on Saturday, 29 November  2025, 06:09 PMYeah Eric,i had another shop try today. HJC very good,a couple of models. Shuberth, wont buy if i cant try. I got really pissed off, colours not in my size HJC etc etc.I thought ill just buy another LS2, at least i know good.Went home thought about.I decided to fix top vents which were my main reason to change current hat.  Gave external polish, ipone interior clean, new visor fitted. Now a keeper until i save up for a Neotec. Sick of buggering around and talking to sales people.18 yr olds telling me what i need 😡

Limited stores around here. They did open a new AMX store not far away. Lots of new helmets.

I was in there 2 minutes when I realised it wasn't great. The girl serving me hadn't got a clue, said it was her first week and she only knew about working in an old folks home (should have been at home with me then!)
Didn't have a clue about different visors, different styles, why some lids had AU / EC stickers and others didn't, different buckle types, basically zero product knowledge.

I get that everyone has to start somewhere, but it was very hard to spend my money. She had zero product knowledge, it was like trying to buy a car off someone who'd never driven.

That's when I went to the Suzuki dealership tried one on, ordered another in the same size, different colour. Small selection but very clue'd up sales team.

Sorry for you guys down under. We have sportsbikeshop up here and I find them to be excellent.  :smitten:

Nearly all, of the staff are bikers, so they use the gear and know what they're talking about.   :salute:

Yes, you can find stuff cheaper, elsewhere but they price match, so actually, you can't.  :clapping:

You can get stuff sent, to your local store to try on free. Or order online and have it posted to you.
Anything over £25 is shipped free and if you don't want it, for any reason, then it goes back free
and you get a full refund.

Last season i bought a pair of RST Paragon 6 heated gloves. After eight months, they took them back without question
because the batteries packed up.  :onya:

Superb service.  :worshippy:

Living and traveling between the UK and AU I find a lot of differences. The UK with its high population on a little island is great for buying stuff, bike sales, stores, bike shows and meets, puts AU in the shade.

I much prefer riding in AU, the roads and weather, the costs, 78p a ltr fuel and no MOT's etc.

It's not like one is better than the other, both different offering their own benifits.

My insurance here is excellent. All the staff are very clue'd up, they chat about the differences between models, how rare or common each is, values, advantages and disadvantages in a way only riders do, not someone reading off a spec sheet.

I used to love the UK bike scene, I was a regular at the Rock and Blues, Bulldog Bash, the big NEC show, several pubs bike nights etc, but riding around in the sun in December on a bike the UK isn't allowed to sell, to sit outside the pub with a cold drink before getting some cheap fuel isn't bad !

My last few helmets have been a SHARK and HJC. Both convertibles. I prefer the open faced options due to our warmer climate and if it's cold or raining very rarely I closed them for full protection.
These helmets are a little heavier due to the opening mechanisms, however my HJC is only 1.7 kilograms so not a pain in the neck even whilst open.
HJC are very reasonably priced are quiet and well padded. Most importantly it's a good fit for my large noggin. 🙄

I don't ride much on a weekend, weekdays suit me better, so I went out in the Toyota to check out some 4x4 tracks as an alternative way to get into town, get some prawns and give the dog a wash.

It was sunny and 31 degrees C this morning when I left home. ......

Chris I assume the HJC is a 90S or 91. As I think they are the one's with locking mech so rating for use open while moving.

Today finished my helmet enquiring. Another shop. Caberg i dont like the look. Shark, HJC, AGV,just limited stock, XL my size, seems like everyone elses as well.Neotec just stupid price, Schuberth, nowhere to try.Nolan, same. So again ordered another LS2, they tick safety box, my current is over 5 yrs, just slight wear marks. FF908 is model,i dont understand why so cheap. Quality is above most others, better than a few ive recently tried with triple price tag. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZtMFmRkPus

Only worn it a couple of times but I'm very happy with my LS2. It's ideal for off road stuff and a lot better than I expected, love the drop down dark screen, even the free rucksack is quality.  I was going to buy another Shoei for my roadbikes, but I'll certainly check out the LS2's before I do.
