So I need a new Magneto Cover & Web Bike Japan have them for £126.76 & £10.40 delivery, does anyone have any experience of import duties to the UK, will I have to pay import duty on this. I have read that below £135 there may be nothing additional to pay, but like most things in UK the rules seem about as clear as mud!

Oh and if there is nothing to pay, if I ordered the signal generator cover from Web Bike which is £57.89 on a separate order would I get away with that or would the customs crowd be on to me do you think?

Cheers

I'd say prepare yourself for taxes, then if it doesn't happen, you're on a win.  :onya:

Pete can you post a pic of the damaged unit please. Some on here may take it off your hands and just polish it up a bit. You'll then recoup some of the cash you're giving to our most generous of mates on here Seth. 🙏🙏🙏

Yes will do, it may well polish up as not totally trashed and still oil tight, but bad enough to warrant replacing 🤦♂️

I've not been caught by any import tariffs from Webike Japan yet, but I can't swear if any of the orders were over £135 or not.

When I ordered my new MAP sensor from Webike Japan it was around 256 AUD. I didn't pay import dytu or GST, but the rules are probably different here
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

In an attempt to answer this, a quick google suggests the following:

When importing goods from the EU to the UK, you may need to pay import duties, VAT, and excise taxes. Here are the key points to consider:
Customs Duty: Charged on goods over £135 value, with rates varying by product category and country of origin.
VAT: 20% on the total value of imported goods, including item cost, shipping, insurance, and customs duty.

Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement
