Am aproching my first valve cheak ive read the how to ..the bit am woundering is after cheaking them .am i right to think that to find out what size shime i need i put bigger or smaller fealer gauges in til i find a fealer gauge that fits nice and the size of the new shime needed will be the number on old shime pluse the diffrence in fealer gauge sixe ? Am used to old school valves adjuster and lock nut ..id take to a dealer but been quoted 350 cheapest up to 500 pound in all the local shops

youre spot on mate, thats how you do it. personally i dont thinkyoull need to change anything. 4 valve motors with shim adjust never tighten. mostly stay in spec. they can loosen up, doesnt affect motor but you can hear it. hardly worth the effort  unless noisy. ive seen car motors go 800 th. ks and still ok. just my opinion.

When I checked mine at 20k they were all well in spec, not only that but all the inlet were the same and all the exhaust were the same as well, well chuffed.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Checked mine at 25k and all well within spec..Now on 40k.
I should have rechecked them when I did the rebuild back in Jan this year but forgot...Wont be checked again until around 50K now :whistling:
