Brought a new rain suit & a back pack.  My last rain suit never got used & the damn thing shrunk whilst hanging in the closet!  Needed a new one for the 10 day North Island road trip next Feb.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Nah, being the colossus I am, I have to take whatever I can get in my size.  It's a DriRider 1 piece.  On the upside, if I take a couple of collapsible poles with me I'll also have a ready made 3 room tent on hand!   :happy1:

Zeppelin hanger more like it Col !!
I couldn't own a one piece these days I'd never get it on.  My shoulders are buggered.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Hooli

Not bike related but I've ordered a 50% more powerful intercooler pump for the Jaaaaaaaaag. That'll keep the intake temps down better as they need the leccy pump to circulate the coolant through them. It'll be needed as an 18% bottom pulley turned up the other day, I can't think how that happened  :whistling:

I'll get the garage to sling them on when I book it in for timing chains this year, should add 35-40bhp top end & more low & mid range as the blower will be boosting sooner. Totally unneeded but I like the idea of it being 'just over 400bhp' not 370bhp as it sounds better. Plus the lower power curve will make it more fun in normal driving.

Only other thing it needs one day is a straight 3.5" intake tube to get more supercharger whine when giving it some, it'll sound angry then.

grog

I needed steering shaft for my Mazda. Around $600 here. Today found a bargain, posted new from Dubai $160. Back clapping, such a bargain. Invoice came, US dollars turned it into 250. Still ok but i wasnt as clever as i thought. We sure get ripped in Oz.

Kiwifruit

You wouldn't want to live here then Grog.
Aussie banks and insurance companies just practice ripping people off there, thats before getting to their main game here !!
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Didn't buy but looked at the run out / end of line DRZ400E's.
I sort of convinced myself it'd be OK for what I want.

Couldn't get my head around paying $11k for something small and basic, or $4k for an old one that someone has had the best years out of.

My "bigger is better" brain wandered off thinking of DR650 but I told it smaller and lighter is better in the case.

I have a guy to see in two weeks who's clearing out his Swap Meet stuff so that gives me thinking time.

I'll probably be looking at something else by then.

They're both great bikes but are a little underwhelming in stock form.

The DRZ is the better choice for offroad use - better suspension and lighter. I had one for a couple of years. Rode it from Toowoomba to Cape York and back, almost 6000km in one trip. Sold it a few years ago. A good mate has one with a wide ratio gearbox and 440cc big bore which is quite a nice thing.

I've got a DR currently. One of the wife's bikes officially. They're better suited for limited road riding than a DRZ but are still a great offroad bike so long as you're not riding single trail etc. Some minor suspension and carb mods transforms them. This one's had big valves, high comp piston, a pumper carb and thoroughly sorted suspension thrown at it. Quite different to a stock bike but feel free to shoot me a message if you'd like to take it for a lap.

Thanks and some good info.
It would be something that gets a fairy easy life.
No long hauls or serious off road work.

Just something to do a few local unsealed gravel roads, fire trails, logging roads etc just to explore a few places and use different routes. Nowhere that my cars don't go but just something better suited than what I have.  I did consider a V-Strom, I've had a few SV's, I'm sure it'd do the job, but they always feel too much more Road than Trail.

I've had a few TS, DR, KDX's etc but older bikes and many years ago. I'm really out of touch with the market now.

Priorities would be...
Preferably Suzuki.
I don't want anything old, tired or another project.
Not a huge investment.
Doesn't need to do long hauls or climb mountains.
To do a couple of hundred K's max days on gravel roads / occasional creek crossing but nothing challenging.

Most of what I have in mind would be laughably easy to Off Road riders, it's just not ideal for what I have.

Irish in Oz

Now that I'm back in Oz, I will be getting my 1990 DR350 ready for Historic Registration that will give me enough use throughout the year, 60 days on log book. My XR250 is 1997 so a couple of years until it is ready.

KiwiCol

A decent DR650 Tony, they're old school & bullet proof, take you anywhere you want to go & bring ya back.

Hi Chris
Would be good to catch up, will be a while before bike on road only turned on igition and everthing lit up but no fuel in it to start.
Busy working on the property.
Have noticed sum changes, E bikes and potholes, and alcohol increases some stuff 3 times the price to UK.
