Hi all,

So the other day me and my gf was stranded due to a c42 problem and we had to have the bike towed back home.

I have been searching for a solution for the c42 thing, and I found some info on what it could be, but i'm not sure on how to fix it yet.

But I have questions...

Is there anyway to bypass the anti-theft system?
The reason for wanting it removed is that we plan on going on a full summer bike vacation next year in europe and I do not want to be stranded on a mountain road in the alps or a shady back street in Naples at night having to leave the bike for unatended.

How or where do I check if my bike has been recalled and fixed?

I recently did the headlight conversion that user BlueDragon did to his bike, and I put LED indicators front and back on my bike, so I switched the relay to get the right flash rate...could this be the problem?

As you might hav noticed by now, I'm not that tech savy, so all help is very much appriciated!

I know in the UK you can just ring a dealer & they'll tell you if the bike has had the recall done, I'd assume it's the same over there as Suzuki must log it.

I've said many times
The flasher relay is also a part of other systems on the bike and you need to be very careful what you chamge too.

Side stand/clutch switch interlocks go through it too as far as I recall.

I don't think there is any way to bypass the immobiliser, it's part of the ignition circuitry and built into the ECU.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

I don't understand why anyone would want to remove the imobiliser as it's coded into the ecu and from memory others way better then me have tried and said there is no way into the software.
The c42 problem could be several things all fairly straightforward to check and fix (most are wiring related)
And as we say here find and fix any basic things it could be and it's never just whatever c42 is bit something connected to it
Finally indicators and fasher relays have caused bit problems in the past so maybe work on 1 system at a time .
I wish you very good luck with it all .

Very rare to be stranded due to the immobiliser, more likely to be stranded due to someone stealing a bike without one.

We've removed two from Honda's, but that was due to the owners losing both keys and at the time it was hard to get around the Honda HISS immobiliser, we bought ECU's from the US (no immobiliser there). Not long back I tried to buy a Fireblade 1000 due to the owners losing both losing both keys.

I have immobiliser on the 3 bikes I use the most, had them on several other bikes. I've never considered removing them.  Pretty sure they are listed on my insurance as having immobilisers too.

From what I see online Italy is nearly as bad as the UK for bike thefts, so I wouldn't want to disable the security before going there.

Yeah, it is bad, that is why I pay for private parking.

My point is if the bike won't start I might be forced to leave it.

I found the problem, turns out chatGPT solved it for me...quite easy too

I never even concidered to try the spare key until it told me.

Started just fine...so I need a new key, nothing more!
