Quote from: Tony Nitrous on Monday, 21 July  2025, 02:03 PMSat in the city with a coffee and my feet up waiting for the Fortuner to be serviced. Fixed price, $290.  Like the bikes I like having one car dealer serviced and under warranty, and Toyota have done me a very expensive repair under warranty at almost 7 years old on a previous vehicle.

Time to kill so I googled a full Gen-3 Hayabusa derestriction and hot up combo.  Akra full system, short BTmoto stacks, air filter, Brocks Super Stock cams, Brocks clutch conversion, a Super Stock V2 plug in box, full dyno tune by Yuri.
Price for the parts and tune without labour and fitting...
AU$9,000 !!! Fark !!!

So I then priced up a bull bar for the Fortuner. Toyota supplied and approved, doesn't effect the airbag, the airflow or the warranty, in black steel, with a small loom to move the sidelights, installed......
AU$3,907 !!! Fark !!!

Both are on my wish list, but I think I need to lower my expectations a bit

I bought a Chicken Curry pie and a coffee instead.
AU$10.50.

I don't think my wallet is up to playing in the Premier League...

Plan 437B... maybe it's looking cheaper to make a Gen-2 Busa go a bit quicker than it is. Doesn't need the clutch, Super Stock box, cams etc and will still be good enough for a talentless old bloke like me.

Good idea to tune it up a bit Tony, as it's widely acknowledged that Busas lack get-up-and-go!  :happy1:

There's always room in the world for a bit more tolerance and kindness.

I'm trying to use horsepower to compensate for my lack of ability...

Maybe a dyno sheet for some bullshit bragging points down the pub?

Quote from: KiwiCol on Thursday, 17 July  2025, 01:44 PMVery nice Eric.  I'd like one of those myself, but I don't want it in the way when I'm not using it. I need a shed like Kiwifruit, plenty of room in that . . .
My mates said the same put it to the side and park the bike on it, they all bought one.

They do take up a bit of room, but you'll never see mine without a bike sat on it. Even if the bike doesn't need maintenance, cleaning or jobs doing it's not a big drama to park a bike on it.  I've tried other stands but the large working platform is a must for me, parts, tools, mugs of tea etc on a large area under the bike, and the ability to take a dozen different bikes with no fitting kit is great. I can see why they are a standard bit of kit in bike shops.
first one I've had, bit nervous to put the BMW on it, not much room to get on and thrn off the bike while on the ramp, then put the stand down etc.  Need a mate to help I think....
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I'm piss weak, some days worse than others but a list of health issues that aren't in my favour. Some days I struggle with grip and strength, easily out of breath.

I start the bike, put it in gear and walk it up onto the bench with me walking to the left. Hit the kill switch, hold it with my right hand and reach down and tighten the front wheel clamp with my left hand. Walk around the rear and fit the paddock stand.

I've lost count of the amount of folk who have told me that it's dodgy as all fuck and the bikes going to end up upside down with me under it.

20 years later I'm doing it several times a week without a drama.

EDIT: I take no responsibility for folk who do dumb things that I get away with...

Kiwifruit

Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

lurch

Admittedly I have the advantage (in this case) of being 43, 6'4" and 110kg but I used to idle my 1290 Adventure up in a similar way to what Tony has described.

It got a bit interesting if I wanted to put it on backwards to work on the front end. That's just one of the reasons I updated my lift to one that the front wheel clamp can be removed from / dropped down out of the way.

It was. That was a previous place. Just used it as a pic of my lifts. I seem to have accumulated a lot more junk since then!

I once tried to put big girl on 4 post hoist at work. Not sure how we all didnt end up a heap on floor. Looked easy but didnt pan out easy. Never tried again.

Phill P

Monimoto 7 tracker and an Oxford beast 2 metre chain, should slow the fuckers down a bit.

KiwiCol

I decided to go all in & get a bike lift, https://www.machineryhouse.co.nz/a3495  and a compound vice for the drill press https://www.machineryhouse.co.nz/v1205?s=compound%20vi.  $1200, includes delivery to my place.

Man has gotta have these things. . .
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

grog

Well done Col, both good prices.

Hooli

I've just ordered fork seals from Webike Japan & a 46mm seal driver ebay as borrowing one last time made the job so easy.

Yup another mate's bike needs them, this time the K4 B/R I went with Amy to look over early this year (I think it was). Probably getting done this weekend as the seals are due to arrive in 3 days...

Eric GSX1400K3

Upgraded my 25yo compression tester, should arrive next week so that i can check all 4 pots.  Suspecting a blown head gasket, seeing as all sensors and fuel pump checks out.

Expensive Lift Col -IMG_93061.jpg I paid CAN$300 - and it operates on an air or hydraulic.
I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!
