Didn't buy it but a training course for Sunday. If you do two "Ride Forever" courses in a year you get $100 of your annual rego. Normally they cost $50 but the provider must have had spaces to fill so I grabbed it. I've done a few and always come away having learned something. Usually a good day out with other like-minded people.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Quote from: Kiwifruit on Friday, 20 June  2025, 11:17 PMWe've got a tank with some sort of pressure bladder in it. Had it fitted to stop water hammer. About the same size as a 9kg gas bottle. Works well.
growing up, mum and dad had a property that was not connected to mains water. We relied on rain water off the roof, always plenty of water.  The pump we had had a pressure / priming tank sitting on top, about the size of a 9kg gas bottle as KiwiFruit says, that would gravity fill and prime the pump. Never had an issue with water hammer.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I'm the same Col if you go to these Ride courses with an open mind and decent instructors you'll always pick up something you've either forgotten to do or in best situation something new which is helpful. Kind of a refresher of your skills no matter how advanced you think you are 🧐

I was round at someone's house in the next town yesterday. His Mum and younger brother turned up.  He's a little younger than me, his brother younger again. Both in there. 50's.
Mum was driving as his brother has had a few epileptic turns and has other health problems.
As I was leaving his brother had a turn, one minute OK, the next on the floor being rolled over onto his side. Family knew what to do, I wouldn't have a clue.
The younger brother had a few bikes, had a place out rural, same as my mate and I.

After losing my next door neighbour recently it's certainly made me think. It's good to plan for the future and think ahead, but there's no guarantee you'll get there.

Yeah, I have one of those. I can heat or cool and pick fan speeds for individual rooms from my phone when I'm heading home. Still prefer to put my feet up in front of the log burner in Winter.

Another 6 x 2.7m zinc / corrugated sheets. Now screwed and wired around the hen pen, poor buggers were getting a hard time in the high winds. The sheets have made a huge difference. I should have shopped around but I had to go into the city and was driving past Bunnings and couldn't be arsed spending an hour to save a dollar.

Renewed bike insurance. Shannon's.  Left the 3 x 1340's (Gen-2 Busa, Gen-3 Busa and B-King) on fully comp, agreed valuation, all extras and mods listed. They dropped the new Busa down $50 as I'm not doing the mileage I used to.

A few items from Coles, a chicken curry pie for me, and a Pho soup for my wife, my wallet was noticeably lighter !

As the insurance was $50 less than I thought that'll pay for a breakfast and a splash of fuel tomorrow... that's a free ride out... man maths!!!

A Swiss vignette at about forty quid, just to avoid the possibility of a large fine should I accidentally stray onto their motorway network during the two days I'm passing though.  :furious:

A bill i didnt buy.House insurance went$1800 to $4500. They are just robbing wankers. Only done one online quote so far, $2700. I hate paying it but cant sleep without insurance. As ive said before, storm damage last 8 yrs just on $150g so im in front.

Feel your pain Grog, even over here in the west, they try to bump up the premiums to cover their payouts on the East coast.  Definitely shop around.  When our renewal came around, I got 4 quotes, then used them to drive the renewal with our current provider down to what I wanted to pay fir the level of coverage.

Yeah Eric, i was spoilt for 34 yrs, 20% discount. Back to the real world now

Crikey! I saw a news article warning of premium rises last week actually but I wasn't expecting a jump like that. We've got a couple of months left on the current policy, guess I'd better limber up ready to be bent over...

I pay short of $1500 for landlord insurance and it was half that before the Brisbane flood. Is your place valued at a couple of million.
