I just thought a tiger loaf was the most exciting, having "Tiger" in its name.

So you were right the first time..

Noted, I won't mention that loaf works really well toasted with Ardennes pate on for lunch then.

I also gave a garage just over £700 when collecting my car earlier. Two front spring pans replaced, plus the broken spring they found & a coolant leak fixed with a new hose. Although I got the low coolant warning when nearly home so I'm not sure they bled it properly.. I'll top it up once cold & make sure they did bled the intercoolers properly, then see if it behaves. Seemed decent folk there as it's a place I've not used before so I expect it's an honest mistake.

Hmm, about that.

They'd misrouted the little hose they'd replaced so it was rubbing & already damaged, so good job I needed a reason to look under the bonnet really. After looking at it for 5mins & removing the top rad brackets to see more I rerouted properly so it wasn't hooked behind an AC line & rubbing on another coolant pipe. I'll keep an eye on the coolant level still though.

Also I got a rough price for the timing chains & guides replacement I should get done. This car has the early ones where the tensioners fail and the guides crack, hence I replaced the secondary tensioners when I got it as those are the ones that kill your engine if they fail.

It'll be about £1200-1500, depending on a few bits they say often break when touched & that includes a new water pump as that has to come off. Again the early ones which this might have, you can't tell from outside, do fail when the plastic impeller comes loose on the shaft. I asked the obvious question when taking that part of these cars apart & they'd fit the bottom pulley of a 4.2 for the cost of the part while doing it cause it's coming off anyway. That adds about 20% power, mostly bottom end & midrange, so would be very rude not to get it done. It'll be a true 400+bhp car then & that just sounds a nice figure to me.

I might well book it in towards the end of this year for that to be done if nothing else decides to steal all my money.

Proper exciting - a new mattress/workbench . With some added hardware in my back now (T6 to T9 has titanium rods and screws) post 701 accident the old one wasn't quite cutting it.

We even added an electric adjustable base to help with the comfort side of things. Reaching this stage at not quite 44 makes me wonder if I've made some bad choices or lead a life well lived, think I'll go with the latter.

You're not supposed to wear the body out that fast!  Least they've done some running repairs on it for ya, hope it lasts another 44.

I'm probably not as bad as that made me sound to be fair. I'd be just fine without the fancy bed base but it will help at times and the wife deserves a few little luxuries for putting up with me.

Hanging around for another 44 years only interests me if I continue to enjoy life to that point. It doesn't bother me if it's 4 or 44. Actually maybe 4 would be cutting it a bit short...

Youll be right Lurch, youre still healing, youre still here.
