My first big bike was a RF600RR. Horrible cramped thing & it had carb issues & a bent frame so not a good example.

Quote from: grog on Monday, 19 May  2025, 05:18 PMSurely a couple of strokers Tony? Titan, Rebel, Hustler, amazing bikes. A ride on Yoshi Busa, would be bucket list. Was build you watched Jessica?

Looking forward to riding a stroker again when I get back to Oz, the RD400 I miss.

One for sale here 98 $10k 65kms. Also a 2007 SE14 done 51k for $13k...getting up there !

Prefer the earlier tube frame S than the later beam frame R.
I know the S gets a bad rap but it's an easy fix.

I've had a lot of bikes, from FS1E to a Harley, KH triples and Super-six 250's, to Blackbird and ZZR, KDX to classic early CB750 and Z900 and lots more.
I think I'll just stick to 16v, iL4 Suzuki's now, they are the ones that interest me and where I'm happy.

There's a lot of nice bikes out there but I like my little niche and know where I'm happy. Going off track with the H2 SX SE only confirmed that.

Not bike related, well, sort of is, if I save money on something, I have more to spend on bike stuff!  :clapping:  :onya:

It's time to put some new pads in the Merc, so when I was in Christchurch the other week I went in to the dealer, got a price for front & rear pads & 2 sensors, $1078!!!  bloody hell, I'll have a look around.   Went onto my Trade Supercheap account & got both sets & 2 sensors for $267, much better price.  Wonder if they'll stop the car?  Bugger, I bet they don't have the Merc logo on them though  -   :happy1:

I was after DBA gear but it's not avail here through SCA, they have it listed but ya can't order it - server error.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Thats a pretty fair price Col👍We had a Merc at work couple of yrs back, HID headlight blown. Dealer said no globes available, new unit. Only $10k😵💫. Was a prick of a job, couple of hours work, new globe in and perfect $650 all up.Just a bit of difference 😂

Have a look at Rockauto.com next time. US parts supplier for almost all car makes and models. If your car was released in the US, they will have parts for it. Cheap too, so much so even with freight they can beat some of our local prices. Dealer quoted me AUD95 per iridium spar plug and over AUD200 each for the coil packs for our Jeep. Rockauto.com sorted me out for under aud600 delivered for 6 plugs and coil packs.

I had DBA on the Discovery, then went to RDA and their black treated, slottted and vented versions. Great rotors.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Not bought today but delivered today with the help of some mates since I'm still recovering from a recent 701 destroying accident. Upgraded my workshop lift to one with some additional features. IMG_3884.jpeg

Good looking hoist Lurch, I'm very jealous
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

You've got the shed for one Col . . .

K Tech front fork compression adjusters, mine are siezed and look a bit chewed up.

Honda powered 8Kva generator.
3 year warranty on the Honda engine,
2 year warranty on the electrical side.
Both 10 and 15amp plugs.
Loads of "RCD/MCB Combination / surge / appliance safety" etc tech I don't understand.

Waiting on the wheel kit for it.

I've had the house powerboard modded with a change over switch and a male plug so i can just plug it in and it powers the whole house.

Had 5 outages last year, bit annoying.

House runs fine with it. It's only a back up so 8kva is fine, I'm not going to run the aircon or oven. Apart from the fridge freezers and my wife's office, stuff like not being able to flush the loo as the water pump is electric get annoying.

Could have gone a little smaller but there's a few jobs I might do that require an 8Kva.

Cool, I've got a couple of generators here as well, as we're an earthquake & flood prone part of the country & we need to be semi self sufficient in a disaster situation.  We'd be cut off for months probably, only access to this area would be by air (or sea), if the airport survives . . .

One is an 8.5kva & the other is 3.5kva

RCD/MCB combo just means that what you may previously have seen and known as a separate "safety switch" is built into each circuit breaker.

RCD - residual current device (old terminology = safety switch)
MCB - miniature circuit breaker

The only problem with these more industrial type units is getting them far enough away from the house that the noise doesn't drive you mad without creating voltage drop issues due to the length of tiny conductor in an extension lead. Aside from that they're quite a bit more robust than the shiny plastic covered units.

Yeah, I knew an open frame one would be a bit loud.
I ran it for a while in the shed that's about 20m from the house, wasn't too loud in the house and everything worked fine.
I'm not that clue'd up on them but others have told me "A stable sine-wave alternator" is something I needed.

I may look out for a smaller (quiet!) enclosed one just to run the bare basics at nights and to take camping. Any excuse to buy more toys.

Nice looking bit of kit there Tony.
Yes Col you'd be isolated even with a slip so having a back up is a great idea.
I'm relying on the gas and solar on our caravan in the event of an emergency.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎
