My bump stocks have completely perished and crumbled away as I was cleaning them, what's the general consensus, leave'em off or replace?.
Used to be known as Nomad many years ago when I was the chair in the Suzuki owners club if anyone still remembers me, it's been far too long. Have just built a mancave just for me and the 14 !!!

As long as you don't exercise the shocks so hard that they hit bottom, you'll be alright. If (when) they hit bottom you'll have the pleasure of sitting on a bucking horse going xxx mph.

However, I assume that the shocks haven't been serviced for a very long time. For your and the bike's (and others) safety a complete service is calling. Or get some after-market.

As @andre says you definitely need them and if they've perished everything else similar age will be in doubt. They're reasonably cheap to refurbish. I'm lucky we have an excellent guy locally Rodney @ RAD Shock Repairs I recommend highly (don't be in a rush though 🧐)
Mine have been serviced 4 times with different parts requiring replacement each time and that cost was still minimal compared to replacing with aftermarket ones.
I still like the standard look.

As GSX said, get stockers serviced.Mine prob due again but seem to be working just fine.

I've used Rodney at RAD for my BMW WP shocks, great service. Fully rebuilt.

For the GSX, I removed the bump rubbers, they were like yours, totally perished. I have ridden two up on some pretty bad roads, never ever bottomed out the shocks. Regreased the preload adjusters though and when two up,the preload sits at 4-5 rings as opposed to the std 2.5

I think they actually look better without the bump rubbers, but no reason you can't get them replaced during a rebuild, id suggest a UV stabilised rubber though.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

True, noted, but they do get one or two days of sunshine each year don't they?

Looks like we are going to get even less Sun, our wonderful grubberment has agreed £50M for Sun blocking starting very soon...how does that fit in with the solar panel idea  :confused1:

What the hell is sun blocking?   Gonna put sunscreen over everything?

Crazy isn't it? force everyone onto solar power (that includes wind as they're driven by solar heating) then turn the sun off. It's population control on a global scale. Add in how man made global warming is a myth and we're due to start cooling in the 2030s as several solar cycles come to an end & it adds up to an attempt to cause an ice age.

I'm glad I'm getting old so won't see too much of the destruction these loons are unleashing on our planet.

Yes mate, I'm doing a full resto on the bike, so everything will be stripped, rebuilt or replaced. :onya:
