Bleed nipples

Servicing my bike now the weather is improving and one of the things I've got to do is service my brakes again. I am going to split the calipers and clean the pistons as I think one or two are stuck , then repaint . I have also ordered some new calipers bolts , I also need new bleed nipples and my question is what size are they as I can't find any for the gsx. Help please , many thanks JT.

I bought the wrong size as I'd snapped mine. I think the correct ones are M7x1.0 though, as I had to change them to M8 after ruining the threads.

EDIT: Well that was a good guess, I've just found the last post on this thread https://gsx1400owners.org/forum/index.php?topic=237.30 confirms they are 7mm.

Thanks @ hooli, all the bleed nipples I found for Tokico 6 pots were 7mm , but all for Kawasaki's . New Hel braided lines on order as well as I'm going back with a 2line set up. The set up I have at the moment is a 'h' pattern which is proving problematic in trying to purge the air out of the top of the loop as it goes over the mudguard, it is a faff. While the calipers are off I will take the wheel out , polish the forks and free the bobbins up. The to do list keeps getting longer me thinks. Anyway onwards and upwards. :riding:

I'm surprised that's a pain, my Hornet has that style of plumbing & bleeds up ok.

I've always found the trick is to remove the bleed nipples, fill the master up & ignore it for 10mins. Gravity pulls the fluid down the lines & gets things started. With the loop over the mudguard I'd only do that with the line to the first caliper until fluid came out the nipple hole then bleed it up followed by the other side.

The master cylinder on 14s always seems a pain to get started if you rush it & pump right away.

The lines do bleed up hooli but as I say it's a faff and takes too long, so I'm going for race set up , double banjo up top , 2 lines each one directly to the caliper. Bleeding should be easy peasy. :onya:

On the rare occasion I've done this I've borrowed a pressure system and drawn the fluid through to the calipers avoiding the bleeding all together.
I've always run race lines.
