GSXKING

Sounds like one of those character building rides Col. Lucky you were on your Blue Beast  :hat: it's certainly a test of your ability. No traction control or ABS, fairdinkum seat of the pant's riding 😳
Were you wearing wet weather gear ? Did you take it with you ?
My mantra is carry it with you and it won't rain in most cases.
I don't mind riding home in the wet as you're heading to a warm shower anyway.

No wet weather gear, no I didn't take it with me, (my wet weather gear suit has shrunk from lack of use!)

Fecken strange thing is I took the R3GT out for a wee spin this avo and it bloody started to rain again!  Talk about bloody bad luck!

More days to come, so will get there eventually.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

483k Suzi went superbly though I'd admit it's not the ideal longer distance ride for me being a naked.

Was that one tank of fuel or two ?
Looks like a nice outing ✅
Is there any elevation changes or all relatively flat in that region ?
Pics of your bike at the stops perhaps 🤔

Just an hour each way for me today with a walk around Tenbury Wells in the middle.

This was the ride that got aborted due to flooding late last year. It was a dry bright day today, but the roads were damp and dirty as you will see from the state of the GSX after such a short run.

Still, the sun stayed out for my photos and with the thermometer nudging double digits these days can't be missed at this time of year in the UK.

Really enjoyed it though, I think it had been a month since I last braved a ride out.

123K / 76 miles round trip to get my morning coffee.
30 degrees C on the way out, 33 C on the way home.

Full before we left and topped up again during the ride and refueled again when I got home. Max altitude is only 343 metres so relatively flat country.

Thursday I ride to Pickering Brook, it's a small place up in the hills of Perth WA. It's the day the Vintage & British bikes get together for coffee and chat. I rode my XJR1300 today. The GSX in a photo belongs to another fella,

How are you finding the comfort on longer and shorter rides ? Are you having to look up with your neck ?

Very pretty countryside .. I was amazed and impressed with all the lovely old towns in country England when we visited in 2014

No dramas. I've had various Busa's and GSXR's continually for over 20+ years. The Gen-3 has better positioned bars than my Gen-1 and Gen-2, and the proper cruise control makes a huge difference.

I bought it knowing there were various options to raise bars, lower pegs, change seats etc but I'm happy enough as it is.

I have a couple of long interstate rides planned, I've used the 14 or B-King in the past but I'll see how the Gen-3 go's.

I'm 62 this year, a list of health issues like a medical dictionary.  I'm in denial that there might be a day I can't ride the bikes I love. That might be the day I sell up and buy a fun car, hopefully not soon!

Sounds like me but I'll be 72 in a few months. Every visit to a Dr produces a new name for an ailment 😂😂 Riding keeps me sane don't care about the pain.

I've looked at other options. I have a naked upright Busa and a B-King, the H2 SX SE was in some ways a nicer riding position but wasn't for me. I did try a Z-H2 but it was too much like the SX.
There is a lighter, upright naked bike I've had in mind for a while but unless I have a serious clean out, or cull my pension, then it's out of my budget at the moment.

There are some very neat and subtle mods available for the Busa's bars, seat, pegs etc but I'll hold off for now.

Over the years my health, finances and taste in bikes has changed a few times, so I accept my next bike isn't set in stone. I would like something special before I step down though.

205 K's (127 miles) for a coffee and bacon and egg roll this morning.

Despite the Gen-3 and Gen-2 sharing the same frame and swingarm, having the same size engine, and being on the same theme, there's a lot of differences between a stock Gen-3 and a slightly modded Gen-2 and they are surprisingly different to ride. To me they offer something different to each other and are both good bikes in different ways.
