Quote from: Eric GSX1400K3 on Tuesday, 10 December  2024, 06:06 PMBeen there done that re glue Tony, luckily mu Bunnings is only a short walk away.

Nearest place we have is rural farm store that a lot local farms and properties use, it's a bit rough and ready, it's right by an abattoir, I think a lot of Bunnings customers would be traumatised in there, it's chaos and dusty, they sell everything from hens and nuts and bolts, to water tanks and vet supplies, and do welding jobs.
We have similar as were on the edge between the urban sprawl and country hardware stores. I love the old school store, can buy individual bolt and nut if you want, not a 50 pack when you only need 2 or 3.

When they are busy I often just load up my ute, star pickets, barbed wire hen food etc and tell who evers nearest to the till what I have, they never check.

When I do that in the trade section in Bunnings they search my Ute !

Understandable, but there's something nice about dealing with the folk you see in the pub, supermarket and in the local car club.  Everyone is on first name terms here, I didn't even know my next door neighbours in the city.

There's a distinct possibility the below item may be finding a new home in my shed next week.  Will see if the stars align just right.

I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I have noticed it does feel a little wooden in the front when going around corners alright.

"Wooden feel" is common thread in reviews I read.

Andre

Bought a carton of ten cans of sardines. Cashier lifted each one. When I said something about it, she told me that she wants to be sure they are all the same. I hate being lied to as much as I hate the thieving bastards who compell the cashiers to check for stolen goods.

Went to get some oil drain copper seals to a large bike chain store. Guy had to go in the back to get them. If not doing that, they would be out of them constantly as thieving bastards fill their pockets. When I go to the small store around the corner, I get as many in as many sizes I want for free. It's the owners policy to not charge for penny items. Gets a tip from me which exceeds what he pays for them.

Yes, as predicted they had some plumbers "Blue Glue".

I had to smile, they have a glass fronted fridge, like you'd see in a servo or newsagents with cold drinks. I went to grab a cold can and much of the fridge was full of cattle / horse etc medical stuff.

I have always liked the look of those. However new bike prices are high here and very few are sold second hand.

Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

Hope you get it Col, looks really good.

You should fit that puppy Col... :onya:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

KiwiCol

I do fit!!    I went up to Nelson yesterday to eyeball a black one they've got up there, was allowed to take it out for a spin too. Quite different to the 14, few things I'd have to change on that one, brake pedal was too high & shift lever was too low, tilt the bars up a bit. I also noticed turn in wasn't like I'm used to.  It wasn't bad, just different & something I'd have to adjust to.

So it's looking like 98% probability I'll be bringing it home from Bluff on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday next week.

The plan:
Mrs & I are driving down on Sunday, stay in Haast sunday night, Monday: Haast to Bluff, check out the bike & overnight in Invercargill. Tuesday ride back up through Alexandra to overnight in Haast again, then back up the coast road to home on Wednesday.  Lots of driving & riding on an unfamiliar machine, but I've done it before -  aye Col.  Looking forward to it - and it looks like it may even be fine & dry on the wet west coast early next week. (but we won't hold our breath . . .)

I fit on on the GT, not the R.  The pegs are in a different place & the bars are lower / flatter. The GT is a nice comfortable position for my frame.

BTW, when I was in Nelson, had another try on a new road glide ultra (salesmans suggestion) and it just doesn't 'fit' me.  It feels cramped & my knees are in the way.

I recall Dave Barmy left the 14 & went Trumpet then to BMW. I was looking at the K16 as well.

This Rocket comes with a tank bag & a small pack rack bag sorta thing too, but nothing like the luggage space of a K16.  It also has a tune in it & she runs 170 at the rear wheel with a quickshifter as well. It's only 1 year old & done 5800K's. Like brand new the seller said. Hope so.

Nice cycle, but dunno why a cruising battleship like that needs a quick-shifter,  but hey if it's fitted why not.

At ~320kg wet weight (without rider and pillion passenger) you've got 0.53 hp/kg (based on rwhp), maybe slightly more at the crank to play with.

Internet says 57hp/100kg,  ~180hp/225Nm @4000rpm, so accounting for drive train losses (20%?) in stock form you'd have 144rwhp or thereabouts. 170 rwhp indicates 204-205hp at the crank, not too bad.
