Slow starter motor

Hiya all
A bit of an insight to a possible cause of a slow turning/lazy starter motor.

A guy on one of the Facebook pages had a slow/lazy starter motor and couldn't find the cause .

We talked through a few possibilities and nothing helps .
Then he removed the bolts of his starter motor (as he'd recently had the generator casing off the bike)
To check nothing was out of line .

Tried the starter and it turned faster and freely .
He refitted it and all was good and the bike turned over as it should .

My thoughts are either he'd knocked the starter motor when lining up the casing on refitting meaning the mounting bolts may have been jot filly tight
Or
The starter motor mounting bolts (that are the earth from the starter motor to the engine) were not as it should be ie corroded

If you have a slow/lazy starter this is a simple thing to check before going deeper into the bike .

@Seth your insights and level of technical expertise astounds me.
I must have been very lucky with my GSX. I've had very few problems over 23 years of ownership. Fuel pump springs to mind and I'm sure the stealership ripped me off. Especially reading about teabags a few years later.
I've had 4 batteries, the first genuine Japanese one lasted 12 years 🙏🙀
I can only think of consumables regarding anything else.

Sounds reasonable, starter motor bolts too tight could affect housing and shaft clearances so that it can't spin as fast...

It hadn't been moved when the casing was but my thoughts were the bolts may have been very slightly lose and refitting the casing knocked it and moved it .

Or out bike and direct to battery at working banc
