Gulf Western Oil

Got a new 5 litres of the Gulf Western SYN-X 3000 10W 40.
I see it's no longer the "The Tough Australian", but of more interest to me is the label now says "Synthetic" not "Semi Synthetic". Part number is the same.
So has anything changed ?
Grog, I know you're up on all things Gulf Western any idea ?

Just a change of wording Col, same oil. Full Synthetic is what it says. Synthetic is old semi syn.Lots of other brands now marked same,not sure why its changed.

Pretty sure it is marketing or better said: lying.

In my country only PAO and Ester are allowed to use the labeling of Full Synthetic.

So I will answer my own question. I rang Gulf Western and spoke with a tech rep. He said the oil base is an up spec which is now a full synthetic yet the additives remain the same. He said it is designed for use with a wet clutch.
That was my concern. I will be interested to see how the gearbox feel.

Is this where someone pipes up & mentions the only bikes we've heard of with valve stem seals failing are the ones running fully synth?

Ill ring again tomorrow. In old terms is still semi synthetic, just the base has changed. Ill get answer, we buy around  6 thou litres a year of 3000 so theyll answer my questions.

I have had the new stuff in for a couple of thousand Kms, and no slip

Side bonus the synex 3000 is also the recommended oil for our 97 Pajero swapped it over last change ( one less type to keep on the shelf) and oil consumption in that car has literally halved, check it every 500 km as it's done nearly 250,000 and it would always need 200-250 ml of the Penrite I was running in it,  the last 4 or 5 checks on the GW it has only needed 100 or so

Agree Steve. I use 3000 in bike, both cars, mower and whipper snipper. Makes it easier.
