Quote from: Hooli on Thursday, 28 September  2023, 08:22 PMThat reminds me, the Storms on mine are getting to be very odd shapes & nearly ready for replacement.

Avon Spirits (the replacement for Storm 3DXMs) will be going on.

Will be interested to hear what your thoughts are on the Spirits..
Hopefully they havent knackered a succesful formula by changing for changes sake!

100 miles or so done last night between getting them fitted & reaching the pub 17 miles away. They feel great so far, i thought they were strange turning in to start with, but that was me being used to how deformed the old front was. I'll report back on longevity.

Interestingly Moonie, for those that remember him on the old Org, has got some Spirits to go on his Versys too. We're both 3DXM fans so will see what we think.

Have an exciting* pic of when I arrived at the bike shop to get them fitted.

Well done Hooli, its quite amazing what you can occy strap on when needed. Think my record, lived in share house, no car. 6 garbage bags full of rubbish, trip to tip on old XS650 Yam. Never lost anything.

Somewhere I've got a pic of when I bought a microwave whilst out on my 14. That fitted nicely on the back seat & I still had the topbox fitted at the time. That or a 20kg sack of dog food would be the biggest things I've moved on the bike.

Useless tip of the day - don't jump a Pan Euro ST1100 over a humpback bridge with 20kg of dog food on the back, it lands so tail low I found myself stood on the pegs looking past the headlight to see the road.

My worst effort on 14, strapped 30 box of beer on, one turn, one bump from home, strap broke, all on road. Never saved one. Back to pub in car, clean the road up. Was expensive box of beer.

Six glass bottles of beer in a topbox & a spirited ride is a bad idea too. I didn't loose anything, but I had to empty six pints of beer out the box afterwards, minus what'd soaked into the clothes I'd taken with me.

Bought a pair of kevlar lined motorcycle jeans for the good lady wife, we are touring in South West WA next weekend. They look good and fit well by all reports.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Today bought used Toro self propelled mower. Mower shop rang me. Lawn contractor dropped it in 12 mths ago, said replace cables, filters, blades and full service. He never came back, cant be contacted. Its like new, mine for service cost $275. Commercial mower valued on market $900 to 1000. $1600 new. Yeah, well happy with that result.

Bought a tungsten carbide tipped scribe (with spare tip), has a lovely sharp point, perfect for marking metal and various other things.

Also bought a few 30A fuses for the 14, when I say a few I bought 100 (£6), thought I'd get a few spares :happy1:

Nope, but had a few days of coming out to the bike this week and nothing when I turned power on ... I figured out that it was probably the main fuse after a few seconds, wiggled it about and all was good again.

Took it out today only to find one side of the plastic melted, most likely a bad contact causing the current to flow over a smaller area than normal ... this would tend to explain the usual power going off/on and the clocks sweeping when I tried starting the bike.

So thought I'd get a few spares  :rofl2:

Twenty 2.4m lengths of CLS timber (38x63mm) and two 25kg bags of Thistle Hardwall plaster ... getting the finger out and trying to get my bathroom back to being a bathroom.

Timber will be used to construct the rays of a sunburst with an oval in the middle, which will be the ceiling of the bathroom ... gaps will be covered over with white material of some sort to spread the light.

This is instead of the plywood version I made which wouldn't have let much light through!!
