Hi everyone ... all these years of missing the old org and I've just found the new one  :notworthy:

So, my name is Barry, known in the old org for restoring my trusty '03 (which another member said looked like a ship anchor, due to riding through multiple winters) back to pristine condition as well as bumping the power up to a respectable 125rwbhp.

So what have I been up to, life wise I died on 9th January 2021 due to a cardiac arrest, but some lovely people brought me back after performing CPR on me for 18 minutes ... still alive but now have heart failure and a few other things going wrong ... but hey, that's life.

Still got my first 14, but I took it off the road about 7 years ago (can't remember why) after having done over 103k on her, and she's sat in the garage all that time quietly rusting away ... but I've now pulled it out (ooer) and I'm looking at getting her running again. The rear frame is pretty rusted, the throttle bodies have jammed up (have a spare set), can't get the feckin fuel line off etc ... but it'll be worth all the hassle if I can get her running and on the road again.

Why after all this time I hear you ask, well my current '05 14 has decided that it wants to die, the noise coming from the top end of the engine is horrendous, I don't think it's big ends gone, only 25k on it and not a lot of vibration, but the rattles and clattering is truly dire (possibly cam cap bolts shearing) ... so basically it's dead.

I don't have a lot of strength or energy these days, so I'm not really up to taking the engine out and stripping/rebuilding.

Anyhoo, will be trawling through all the posts to remind myself all the hints/tips that I've forgotten about.

All the best ... Barry

Hi Barry, I know its not as bad as you but after having 3 heart attacks and a stent fitted, i found tinkering away on a bike is good therapy, kept me going and better than doing nothing, good luck with the tidy up,  :onya:

Nice to have you back Barry, good luck with the (continuing) restoration, many of the hints and tips from the old org are still available, so plenty to read up on!

What's bad to one person is nothing to another, so you could be in as bad a state as me ... I'm alive and that's what matters.

In September 2021, I had what I thought was indigestion for four days (for the first time in my life) and was sick a few times ... was only after my big sis said that it sounded like a heart attack that I got it checked.

There's a lovely little thing in your body called troponin, a normal level is around 10, mine was around 1300 for the first test and then 2300 for the second ... yep, I'd been having heart attacks for 4 days.

Given loads of tablets and sent on my way (my RCA was 100% blocked and LDA 50% blocked), fast forward to 9th January 2022 and I had gone out for a fish supper, got to within 15 yards of my front door and dropped dead. Luckily for me a midwife, trainee paramedic and an ex-lifeguard just happened to be passing and brought me back.

Got a pacemaker fitted and two stents in my LDA ... even started exercising and went from 30m for a mile down to 18m ... until April last year when it all went south ... which is probably when the heart failure started ... but not diagnosed until March this year ... urgent referral made to cardiology for October 24th!!

I can still do stuff, but it's like being the Duracell bunny with crap batteries, the energy just drains away very very quickly ... but as I said, I'm alive :)

All the best ... Barry
Still alive ... just!!

Would've been nice to see my Resurrection thread again for the first time I did my original 14 up... maybe I can do a second Resurrection thread ... although it's in an even worse state now!!

Thanks everyone ... hadn't thought of that coming back twice ... seems quite apt that my original 14 should also come back twice ... fingers crossed.
