Gorgious blue skies as well.

First 4 pics are from what was a mine town, now a bit of a Ghost Town, but most of the houses have now gone. Hidden away as it's not on the way to anywhere.  One of our forum members who doesn't post much tipped me off where it was last week.

The 5th pic is a cafe about 15 miles from my house that I use as it's fun empty roads on the way there.

2 days to the end of Winter here, nice weather but really need some rain, none in ages, very dry here.  Still OK for a week day in Winter.

I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I was a lovely clear day here today, so I decided to get the bike out & blow out some cobwebs (for both of us!) Wasn't planning on anything much, but ended up in Karamea, that's about an hour & a half north from here.  The roads were empty round me, so I just kept on going, got to thinking about the hills coming up n thought, yeah may as well go for a bit.  Ended up going all the way to Karamea.

Now although it was a clear sunny day it was still quite fresh & by the time I got there, I was damn cold, chilled right through & I had to ride back   Had to shut it out & keep going.  I found the body was seizing up and not moving properly for the brake & gear lever.  When I got home it was 24 degrees inside & I still felt cold. I was so cold I couldn't even face a beer!  :whatever: That's bad!  Coming right now after 4 hours or so.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Well done Col, when the cold creeps in, so bloody difficult. Had a few rides like that. I once had a 80k ride in snow, body hardly functioning, got there, spent 4 hrs in front of oil heater shivering.

The zip up boots would have come in handy, you probably wouldn't have got laced one's off.

amazing how quick hyperthermia can set in, normal body core temp is 37, hyperthermia occurs at 35, so a very narrow band. Glad you're ok Col

If you add in windchill factor that's a very cold temperature 🥶🥶🥶

Chris, the outside temp was 7 degrees (as per the thermometer I have mounted on the bars).  The wind chill for 100 - 120kph with 7 degrees ambient, is -1 (on exposed skin).  Riding in minus 1 isn't so bad, but doing it for 3 hours is what got me, came right though, just took a while.
