Russ Collins, a drag racer in California, built a series of highly-modified Honda CB750-based drag bikes.
In 1971, he built a 400-hp, supercharged, fuel-injected drag bike called the "Assassin," which dominated its class.

Two years later, his triple-engine "Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe " (aka 'Atchison') became the first motorcycle to break the seven-second barrier at the 1973 NHRA Supernationals.

In 1976 it was destroyed in a horrendous crash at Akron, Ohio. Collins was nearly killed, the crash putting him in the hospital for several weeks and confining him to a wheelchair for several more.

Collins went on to build "The Sorcerer" - with dual Honda 1,000cc engines, and set a world motorcycle-acceleration record for the quarter mile of 7.30/199.55 mph, a mark that stood for nearly 12 years.

Very cool.

Collins passed away in 2014 at the age of 74.
