Painting much more exciting than getting Honda running. Vlad will dis agree, not that his runs. 😂

Quote from: Dwain Dibley on Saturday, 20 May  2023, 09:46 AMWell hang in there, cos it was a no show.  :furious:  :furious:  I could have been gainfully employed getting my mates CX500 running
(with a cdi unit replacement from Marco Bekker), instead of hanging around like a bad smell.
Ended up repainting a fence and some garden chairs.

I "know" that bloke. Used him several times for parts on my GL1100 project bike.

Bike is sold, exported to Belgium.

He is a very clever Chap, his unit works brilliantly. Fitted today and bike is now up and running.

Vlad will be envious of that CX!   Looks a good job on the build, :onya:  :clapping:    shame about the wheezy asthmatic mill though.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

I'm happy for you HR, it was a trauma to sort. The worst place is the underside of the top, where the tank would have been dry/collecting condensation for a while.

There are better options.

No doubt Vlad, but this did the job at the right price, and without pulling the engine. Horses for courses Matey.  :smile2:

New rubber being fitted tomorrow by me and son in law, so off with the wheels today.
I also gave the swing arm a good clean, the chain will be next and all the brake calipers.
I took the chain guard off to make things easier. I also measured the chain adjustment distance on both sides and it was out by a mm or two, even though the markings said not.
So the plan is to go round there spend some time with brand new grand daughter, and then do the tyres.

The caliper is supposed to be gold in colour, here it is after a quick wipe over.

The fronts are held up with tie wraps to stop them swinging about.

The Abba Skylift is great, no need for jacks or pieces of wood, the bike is off the floor, and both ends are accessible.

So after a big munch of my new Grand daughter Martha, we got stuck into the tyres.
It took about an hour to change both and balance them.
Liam had a new hack for lubing the rims, would you believe hair conditioner thinned with water ??
No salts like washing up liquid apparently. Works well anyway, and smells really nice too.   :rofl2:

When I got home I masked the discs and painted them, touched in the wheels where they were dinked, and also painted the wheel weights.

So with the other side of the front discs painted and the wheel cleaned up, it was time to get them back on the bike.
I pulled the rear pads out of the caliper and gave it a good clean again and made sure the pads were OK. I cleaned the pin up and made sure it would not seize.
With the Abba skylift it is easy to get the wheel and swingarm lined up to slot the spindle in, I cleaned all the spacers and the caliper hanger.
The chain cleaned up well, no tight spots, and once lubed up looked good.

Crewie.

Loads of crap came off the chain, the Kerosene was yellow.

All back in and chain adjusted. I used a Vernier gauge to get it all spot on.
