How to "add a pic to the text area" procedure

Seems with the latest update, adding a pic to the text area is slightly different to the previous version.

How to add pic's now:
Click the wide grey button below the text area (says drag n drop or use the button) Click on that.
This will take you to where your pic's are, click on the desired pic (pic's) & you'll see them below.

Remember:  There is a max file upload size of 2mb per post, so if your pic's are too large, reduce the size of them, save & try again. If you have multiple pic's and you exceed the limit for 1 post, just re-post underneath & add the rest there.

to continue;
Note, there is a small blue 'up arrow' next to your pic, click on this arrow then on the blue 'Insert' button & your pic will be inserted in the text where you currently have your cursor.

You can change where the pic is going to be displayed by just moving the whole line of the attachment to where you want it.  Have a go & see how it works.

Tried a couple. Said "File too large".
Don't get this on other groups.
Instead of resizing I just host pics on ImgBB and post them up by using the link.
No resizing or limits on pics.

yeah had the same thing, I use postimage but for some reason the pic's I post seem to disappear after some time  :whatever:

@KiwiCol That's great thank you!  Feel free to publish publicly at your leisure in the Forum Guides board

Does hosting the pics elsewhere and displaying them here have any effect on this forum, either good or bad ?

Are there any benefits from not using up the forums data or allowance (I'm not clued up on this internet stuff!)

... or any negatives but using a link to an offsite host ?

I prefer that people use the gallery and attachment features here - that way we don't get the issue that has happened on other forums where photos disappear in bulk. (remember when photobucket suddenly required everyone to pay? That caused havoc.)

The gallery is set up so that larger pictures are resized down (well at least it should be) but the attachments thing doesn't have that feature.

The problem is that many people try to upload a photo taken on a mobile phone - and the default setting for mobile camera images is HUGE. Too huge.

Yeah, ALL my pics are from a mobile phone.
Haven't used the gallery thing.  When I used the previous on it was quickly full and didn't hold much (if I remember right?).

Thanks. I gave up using the gallery as I'm sure the old version had very limited storage. If that's not an issue then I'll certainly look into using it again.

Edit: Tried. Gave up. Didn't like the pics, size I guess?  Shouldn't have to mess about trying to resize pics every time. All I got was this.

Yeah, well, dunno what you're doing Tony but from my hard drive or the gallery it works.

From the gallery is a different procedure than outlined above, but it's working fine.

You didn't need to change any size, you can see there it says .3mb out of 2mb, all you had to do at this stage was

Have another go.
