Hi there. I always wanted to own GSX1400 and dreams came true about a year ago when I purchased K6 model. Owning Bandit B12 for 23 years I fallen in love with oil cooled engine for its simplicity and reliability and hope GSX1400 will be as good as B12 in terms of trouble free rides. ;)

Welcome Rolbas. As a 12 and 14 owner I'd say the 14 is easily as good and better in several areas. Its only downside in comparison is the 12 can use more GSXR, GSXF, GSX parts as it's part of the bigger family and not a standalone bike like the 14.   I find the 14 is more comfy, has more grunt, classic looks.  I'm sure you'll love it for many more years.

I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

they are a tough engine, seen lots of em abused and they still run, one year at the streetfighters show at Sheffield watching Garry Rothwell doing a burn out on his bandit till the tyre popped, it was a red hot day and the second time he did it that day. I spoke to him later about it and he said he does it all the time on the bandit on the rev limiter and the bike still keeps going, the headers where glowing red

I am not abusing my B12 '97 (I still own it as market value is little and it rides flawless so good to have a back up bike) but I can say, that during 65k km this bike never ever gave a trouble. Just regular maintenance has been required. I agree that GSX1400 is definitely an upgrade however B12 till now can surprise the fellows on modern, more powerful bikes ;).

considering the bandit was a parts bin special it sold really well and help save Suzuki when they where struggling. great bikes.  :onya:

Yeah, I still have a '99 Bandit 12, faired turned naked, and a GSXR1100G, pipe / flatslides etc. Love the older oilcooled lumps. Tough and tuneable, kept a large amount of the Old Skool look with the finned engines, not hard to put into older aircooled bikes. I know someone with an oilcooled GSXR top end on an old aircooled GSX11, proper big boys Meccano Pic-n-mix bikes. 1370's using all Suzuki parts, 750 DOT heads on 12's etc.  The Watercooled GSXR's and GSX13's and 1340's were an advancement in many ways, but no one puts it in a bike because it looks pretty !
