now this is going to go against the grain to some  :undecided:  but as anyone used a different tank and seat unit on a 1400 ? Ive got a pic of a 1400 using Katana bodywork and looks sweet.
I now await the abuse

There have been a few done with Kat panels on the 14.
Unicorn in Japan used to do it to Bandits, 14's, Inazuma's etc.  There's a couple in the UK, some better than others. Often there's stuff like cutting the bodywork to fit the oil cooler etc that looks odd on DIY ones.

I love the look of the original Kats, and love 14's, my only hesitation is that to me the original Kat was a top end Superbike and I'd like something that looks like one to be similar. Sadly it's not as easy to do it with a new GSXR1000 or Busa.

I don't hate on Kat dressed 14's. Prefer them to the new "Kat" even if one of our members has recently bought one..  ;)

I don't buy into the 14 being some Holy Grail. Nice bike but it's nuts and bolts, happy to see folk build what they like.

Kat tanks get a production run occasionally, they were up for sale again recently, although not cheap! Fairings, screens and shark fins have always been available after market.
(I looked as my 14 has damaged tank and aftermarket clocks).

"Team Classic Suzuki" did a full-on GSXR1000 Kat which in theory sounds great, but the lines of the tank and fairing just look a bit off to me, not that I could do better !

cheers Tony  :onya:  im not after a Kat as such as ive already built one, maybe a GSX 1100et tank or an EFE ??? even s GS. lots of options i think.
you've probably seen the Katzuma i built on the other forum with an Inazuma frame and B12 engine.

I'm a fan of the ET / EX's.

The square headlight and cowl gets its haters, but it's been done a few times on GSX14's. If you like OSS's and aren't narrow minded it sort of suits the 14's big boxy shape.  I wouldn't mind doing it properly and doing an ET shaped 14 similar to the Kat ones.

My ET...

My 14...

I do have a few spare tanks, cowls and headlights...

An 1135E look would be interesting, using the big 9" headlight, tank in the original colours etc. The biggest and best of the aircooled brutes and still the basis for many top drag bikes today.

As my 14 only cost me $2,625 / £1400 (last time I added up the bills) and has a damaged tank and clocks, it wouldn't be a bad donor to a build, although me having some time, money and ability might help!

I'm always watching the small ads and squirrelling away Suzuki parts...

Had an EFE bought brand new 1984, had to order it at the time, have all the others now GPZ's VFR's picked up another EFE but let it go. Top Gun my favourite to ride.

I'm after a 9" 1100E headlight for another project. No longer available new and most folk price accordingly. Yam used a similar size on a couple of 80's bikes too.
1" bigger than the normal Bandit, GSX14, SV ones.

The 1135E, the last, biggest and the best of the aircooled Suzuki's is still very much holding its own.

Up untill recently many of the worlds top drag bikes were still building monster top ends on old 1135 cases.

Now they have got race compliance on using billet cases based on the mid 80's design for an all billet motor.

Even the latest serious Gen-3 drag bikes run no Gen-3 parts, just look-a-like bodywork on a custom frame with a motor based heavily around the 80's design, but now anything up to 1900cc / 400hp in the case of the StarRacing engines.

Busa's dominate big horsepower from modded factory engines but the old 1135 design still takes the biscuit for a blank cheque monster build.

My EF was the full fairing model didn't need to put my head behind the screen to put it off the clock.
