Title: LCD screens in the dials look burnt
Post by: AtrophyUFO on Sunday, 05 January 2025, 04:14 PM
Hey All,

Would like some advice on what, if anything, I can do with my lcd screens in the dials.

The bike was a bit of a barn find and there is a lot of work needed but I don't know what I can do here?

Actually I think it may have been parked in the sun for a while!

Here's a photo. Both lcds are the same. practically unreadable.

Thanks.

Like an alien from outer space.
You're more likely to get a response if you introduce yourself first mate.
Mine have been that way for about the last 5 years of my 23 years of ownership.

Only thing that I can think of is to replace the lcd screens. I know a guy here in Germany that likely has the parts and has an extensive history on fixing these units. Shoudn't be difficults to replace them yourself or have someone with soldering skills do it for you. Of course you would need the parts - source a broken unit where the lcds are intact.

It's a "barn find". To make it a minter lotta $$$ required. Much cheaper to buy complete bike in decent order; but then the only fun is on the road.

Maybe the poster beefs up his atrophied social skills and descents with his UFO to the introduction section, reports on himself (like which planet he is from) and the bike (incl. pics). Then he and we will have a bit more fun and something more to base our advice on.

Only thing there is the mileage/odometer is stored in the clocks. If it matters to you.

I have a KOSO aftermarket dash on mine.
It has several nice features the factory clocks don't, but the down side is apart from not keeping the original mileage and not suiting the styling it won't bring up fault codes.
I did originally have to have a bit of a conversation at the Dept of Transport explaining why the mileage was now 000001 when I reregistered it.

Give Paul Thompson a shout.
Do a search on his name on here - "Thommohawk" - as he does clock repair/refurbishing service (you'll need to pm him)
He's known as "Q" about these parts .
I don't know what stock of parts he has but he used to collect damaged ones for spare parts 🫡

Yeah I kind of felt that Greg.
No intro then straight into a fairly extensive question and zero follow up.
There have been a few joining lately and no intro either so I guess they're either shy or ignorant.
