just had a letter from the cop's saying I crossed double white lines !!!! Ive had the bike 2 weeks and been on it almost every day putting over 500 miles on it so far, can't remember doing it though ???
What evidence have they offered ?
Don't just cop it 😈

no idea Chris !!!! it just says "alleged" and the place it happened with a description of the bike and the reg number :whatever:
Could it be a disgruntled cage driver dobbing you in for something you didn't actually do? False reporting an incident?

no idea Col !!!! didn't see any police cars or cameras :confused1: its a quiet village I rode through.
Their are valid reasons to cross double white lines as described in the Highway Code - challenge it :)
If you've had the letter within 2 weeks of the (alleged) offence, then they can now take (I think) up to 6 months to formally charge you with the offence and produce evidence. Sounds to me that some cage driver has sent in some dash cam footage, which I'm guessing they will have to provide at some stage (or at least pictures from same), probably when (if) they issue a formal charge. Until you get the formal notification with pictures, there is not a lot you can do, unfortunately, its a case of wait it out and see.

There's a big thing in the UK asking folk with dash cams to dob in other motorists. I know of someone else who's had it recently and he said it's getting more popular.
https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-11799009/Almost-55k-dangerous-driving-dash-cam-clips-sent-police.html
yeah i did get stuck a few times that day behind a few trucks, some cagers get pissed off because we can get passed but they can't !! IF i did do it, it would of been safe to do so. I don't take stupid risks anymore.
We like the word "Alleged" here. You can get caught ram raiding a jewelry shop in a stolen car and you are referred to as the "alleged offender".
Makes me sick. Then they get let off because they were only 12.
I get a camera ticket for 115 in a 100 and I have to pay it because I'm 63 and own the bike.
Feel for ya 'hard road'
Find* a reason to ask for the evidence. Something like a mate borrows your bike so you need to know who was riding as you don't remember doing it.
Don't forget it's legal to cross them to overtake certain classes of road user if they are doing 10mph or less.
Deny Deny Deny they have to prove you did it.
It's like a cop saying "what speed do you think you were doing" because he has no clue. 🙀
Quote from: GSXKING on Sunday, 04 June 2023, 02:14 PMIt's like a cop saying "what speed do you think you were doing" because he has no clue. 🙀
Cop: Do you know why I stopped you?
Busa Owner: Because I let you.
I did once answer that question with 'give me clue so I don't admit the wrong thing'.
The cop laughed and just warned me about a totally unreadable number plate.
Ive said b4, bike cop came up beside me, i was in pushbike lane at lights. He was talking at me, ear plugs in, i just pointed at ears side of helmet.Trying to tell him i couldnt hear him. Lights changed, off we went, expecting blue lights. Nothing more ever happened.
Many years ago (Before the dawn of speed cameras) my mate and I were pulled over by "Starsky & Hutch" in their Ford Escort..
I was on a 69 Honda CB750 and my mate on a Suzuki GS750 (New)..
The lead cop says to my mate "whats yer name"?
"Norton" replied my mate..
Cop shout to the other cop whos still in the car "Bill, we have a Norton here on a Suzuki"
He then says to me "and who are you"?
"Speed" I replied (Yes that really is my Surname)..
Cop shout to his mate "Bill we've got a bloody idiot here"..
In the past my Surname has got me of errrr speeding loads of times!
On another incident when a cop upon hearing my name, replied "On your way.... You've got enough problems"!
S.
small update, sounds like some dick in a car with a dashcam  ive asked for evidence and the police said they can't send the video but will send me a pic of the moment i crossed the lines.
BUT !!! the letter says it all happened near the bottom of the hill, the double white lines end near the TOP of the hill, looking forward to the pic when they email it.
Yeah I was done for leaving the scene of an accident which I never had. I'd reckon I'd have noticed on a bike colliding with a vehicle and damaging all along it's door!
Police said they had evidence ( I called bullshit) but they refused to show me any evidence saying I'd have to contest it in court if I wanted to see any evidence. Damn was I pissed off.
I couldn't afford to time off work to do so, so got a black mark against my name and a fine.
I'm still pissed over it :furious:
ok guys, looks like im bang to rights :bugga: the pic clearly shows me on the wrong side of the white lines :whistling:

Yeah, as I said before, I know folks who've had the same in the UK. Cops encourage dash cam owners to dob in other motorists. No need to real cops, just admin staff handing out fines from an office.
every car I get behind im looking through the window for a dashcam before i overtake
Karen's every where these days.
I'd personally track down the contributors of the video & insert their camera in their arse like colonoscopy 😈😈😈

Dear Mr Policeman,
I have spent many years in the United States of America so being on the wrong side of the lines was an honest mistake. If you fail to take this into account and refuse to waive the citation, I will have Joe Biden declare war on the constabulary, and the proximity of US air bases facilitates a simple and short war (for a change).
You may think this is unrealistic but at this point Joe is so far gone I could convince him to declare war on himself (though perhaps he has already done so).
Your disobedient servant,
hard road.
Maybe next time you could pull a wheelie and really do it in style

If you want to dob folk in then you should have your name and address posted up on the screen for all to see. See how keen they are then. It's actually happened on a group ride here in Qld. Dickhead dragging his caravan up the range (Esk - Hampton Rd if you're a Qld 'er) with his gutless SUV, bikes passed him safely but a couple were over double lines. He handed his dash cam footage in to the cops.

You need to have a gang patch on.
Works in NZ !!
I never overtake on double yellow lines, same as your white lines, quickly escalates to dangerous driving.

That'd be awesome if we had that here, but the woke, lets not offend anyone brigade would be up in arms. The pendulum has swung too far to the left (a few years ago too) and now we're seeing the results of hamstrung police and soft on crime laws. UK have the same problem, scrotes get away with crimes, lets not lock 'em up, we must wrap them in cotton wool and sing Kumbayah to placate & reform 'em. Fecken good kick up the arse n hiding would sort most of 'em out, they only do it cause they get away with it.
rant over - for now . . . .

Folk here a cry over it, poor bikies losing their freedom, folk made illegal for stuff others have done, they are only loveable rouges and other bullshit.
Join a club that has a proven history of guns, drugs, theft, money laundering and other illegal activities and expect to hide behind "Just motorcycle enthusiasts".
I think AU is over legislated and the cops here can be a bit on the heavy handed side, but it's hard to feel sorry for anyone who wears a 1% patch.
I've had friends and family both in the Police and in 1% clubs.
As much as they do then to have crime involved for 'fundraising' I'd trust most 1%s more than the cops.

Not sure on that one Hooli. I have two bikie Mates, i never ask questions. One was a boss of them for 25 yrs. They bought him 2 Harleys as anniversary presents, great bloke but as younger members came thru they destroyed him. Hes now just a shadow of himself. Very sad. No honour amongst thieves i guess.
Aye I wouldn't get involved myself, even though I know a few people in clubs & since getting my HD been asked if I'm interested in joining a a few times.
It's just I've had the police lie to try & screw me over many more times than anyone I know involved with bikes.
update, turns out it was an off duty copper that grassed me up  fecking arsehole !!!
got a £203 fine but no points.
Expensive - but at least no points, which is a positive.
I'm not sure there is any such thing as an off duty copper. :whistling:
I might be unpopular, but why are you upset about being done for something which you knew was illegal?
I've never once moaned abut being done for going over the speed limit, going through a red light once (looking at weird clouds), careless driving (undertaking on a motorway for some ass who wouldn't move out of the overtaking lane) etc!
I knew I was doing something wrong, I still did it and was punished for it ... end of story!!
All the best ... Barry

I wasn't really moaning :whatever: I did say "I was bang to rights" but its a bit sad that an off duty copper reported me for in his words a safe overtake but caught the end of the lines, a warning would of been better, but If I wan't to moan I will

I don't disagree with you, there are lots of things you can do which are safe, been there done that, but in the eyes of the law it doesn't matter ... hell they'd probably still do you if you were rushing a heart to a hospital for a transplant and went over double whites!!

I got a NIP though today for a perfectly reasonable speed on a perfectly safe bit of road.
Why can't these scum go & die painfully somewhere rather than living & trying to ruin life for everyone else?
If plod did their job these camera scum would be in town centres & housing estates filming the criminal scum who need dealing with, not persecuting safe motorists.

What was your perfectly reasonable speed compared to the actual limit :whistling:
Chase criminals, what planet you on, motorists provide an income, criminals don't!!
It's a sad world we live in, where the relatively law abiding citizens are the easy target, a good source of income and also good for the numbers!!
Another prime example of the scum winning, not worked a day in their life and get everything, whereas us workers get shafted right, left and centre, lucky if we get a pittance and when we do are made to feel like a drain on society!

71 in a 60 on a road that's perfectly safe at double that.

No difference here Barry our useless and corrupt grubernment have decided to milk the motorists of Queensland by increasing fines, reducing actual police numbers and using cameras to detect even the smallest of over speeding events with no rebuke. The cameras capture you then 7-10 days later you receive the fine in the mail. You then get 21 days to pay or dispute the fine. I've done that a few times however it involves a day off work and attendance at Magistrate's court. Then Municipal court etc etc
I bet Mr Nitrous is glad there's bugger all cameras out in the boonies where he is . . .
