It'll stay at a restricted 170-something horsepower whilst it's running in... ;)
Nice one Tony!
Congrats Mate. Cant imagine how awesome that bike will be. Unreal colour. Well chosen.
That is one gorgeous bike Tony.
I'd say it's awesome to drive!!!!!
Congrats on your new purchase Tony, it's always nice to have a new bike, not my cup of tea though. Enjoy :onya:
What a beast of a bike. Keep an eye on your licence...
Very nice Tony ! Big :onya: :onya: :onya: :onya: :onya: :onya:
Jealous!!
SHOULD HAVE GOT A GS   :happy1:
congrat's Tony ! .... nothing like the smell of a new bike running in :onya:
Some of the tech, controls, settings etc are interesting.
Some very clever, some very questionable !
Having a touring and 3 sports modes, each mode can be customised and saved, switching between modes on the move.
Changing dash colours, black, white, red.
Adjusting and saving the settings for the traction control, launch control, ABS, boost levels, dash brightness, shift lights etc etc.
Not quite sure why I need intake air temp, external air temp, left and right lean angle degree readings, acceleration / deceleration level readings and dozens of other things to chose from.
I'm up to about page 90-something in the instruction book !
It's very clever but I can see myself setting up a touring mode and a sports mode and just switching between the two. So far I have found the red dash (sports) and the 100% boost setting. Job done!
Something I do quite like.
There's a small bracket that bolts onto the rear pillion peg hangers. Under the grab rail are two small slots.
The box's have 3 location points on the back of them.
Box's slot in, push forward an inch and lock.
Slide back an inch and pull off.
They are locked in place with a button and a key.
The ignition key locks them in place and opens them up.
No brackets, framework or carrying extra keys.
Congratulations Tony, your first bike with panniers just like GTR and FJR.

Congratulations Tony, your first bike with panniers just like GTR and FJR.
I'm not sure how much use the panniers will get.
I'm buying a small tail pack for daily use.
I do like the fact they fit / remove in seconds without an ugly frame.
Riding back from the dealers I kept thinking, DONT FILTER, DONT LANE SPLIT, DONT GO UP BETWEEN TRAFFIC!!! I live in the city.
Luggage will certainly be nice on overnight weekend runs though.
Most days it'll be without.

I love the panniers, use them, I kept them on the FJR but not the top box. Lane filtering you will get used to, but stay below the legal limit.
Congrats Tony :onya: :clapping:
Don't they sell blue and white ones?
Just joking, enjoy your new bike :onya:
Wishing you many safe and enjoyable miles on your fabulous new bike.
Hi tony. That's a great looking bike take care and enjoy your self mate. Cool 😎
Are green kawasaki's faster :stir:
Looks a nice bike and very capable.
It's not my thing due to the lowish bars and my dodgy neck but very interested in how you get on and enjoy it .

The bars may be a little low, but it's a lot easier to raise the bars than to bring another bike up to this spec.
I've done bar conversions on GSXR's and a Hayabusa. It's not a big deal.

Congratulations Tony - they are a nice bike
I explained to my wife it's a smaller bike than I've owned in years and has lots of safety features and only sensible boring bikes have luggage.
:whistling:
I like that approach :)
LITTLE it aint :boogie: but very nice paint job and looks a little more comfortable then the sports version.
Happy New Bike :)
I'll be interested to know how it is to live with after you have done a few miles / Ks on it.
It has caught my eye, but I am a little unsure about where it "sits"; It has panniers - so not a sports bike, but it has a chain rather than a shaft - so not a tourer?
(but will take up less space in the garage than a ZZR1400 and aGTR1400!)
With luck you are getting the best bits of both worlds, I hope you enjoy.
Pete.
First ride on my SE. Running in, scrubbing in tyres, wondering what all the buttons do. Locations may look familiar, a regular little loop that I'm familiar with.

Didn't go too wild, new tyres / running in etc.
A brief impression....
# Motor sounds and feels a little harsh after my big old Suzuki's, not bad, just different. Not noticeable on the move.
# Comfort is good but as expected, I'm used to higher bars and to me these are noticeably lower. Might not be bad, just different. Seat and bars aren't hard to tweek but I'd put in serious miles first.
# Lots of stuff included that folk often add. Not just the luggage, but braided lines, angled valves, rim stickers, knee pad grip things etc.
# There's no big C spanner for chain adjustment.
# The cruise control might be quite useful. Between the two local mountains on a boring stretch I set it at 103kph and never looked at the speedo. It might be OK in the right place.
# Clocks / Dash are a bit complicated for me. Boost adjustment and reading in numbers or a gauge, lean angles, external air temp, charger air temp, multiple settings for shift lights, launch control, ABS, cornering lights, quick shifter and a dozen other things, multiple sports and a touring mode, dash in black or white, a red sports dash, cruise control... blaa blaa blaa.... etc.
# Even on brand new tyres and no being familiar with it, it feels great though the twistys. Turns in nice, follows a perfect line, when I was a little wide it just turned in and tightened up the corner on demand without a drama. ( Remember my other bikes are all over 10 years old). Punting it through a few corners over the mountain it actually feels a bit more sporty than the weight and size would suggest, nimble it ain't but it's not that bad.
# Power is just there. Haven't pushed it hard, but it pulls nice in any gear, any rev's. Even when I was in a gear too high in was just grunt and gone, certainly not like other conventional 1000's I've ridden.
# It's a while since I've had a faired bike, ZZR1100, Hayabusa's etc but this seems OK. Quite a tall screen but you don't get the barn door feeling.
# First ride done. No regrets. Looking forward to pulling more miles in and possible mods.
Up n running mate. Sure was a better day for it.
Good right up Tony gives a real idea of what the bikes like ..... look forward to reading more as you get to know it a bit better :onya:
Nice bike Tony .....a far cry from having such electrical mod cons as found on a 14...... a clock !!
What sort of k's do they recommend putting on her before you can start to let her sing a little.
Mr Fruit. I like simple. Every time i change something on Diavel, either manual or google, gets very boring.

I'm not one to over nanny or super soft run in bikes.
I just ride them reasonably but don't abuse them until the first 1000k service.
Done this with several new bikes and it works for me.
I let it stretch it's legs a little today but I'm not going to be too heavy handed until that first service.

Same for me........l prefer a wind up watch with hands.
Cant wait for daylight saving to finish then the clock will be right again :onya:
Labouring a new engine l was told is the worst thing for it.
Once upon a life time ago l had to repair couple of small dents on a new Mitsi Tredia Turbo. It had been stolen and recovered. The dealer said it was by far the best one he had driven......it became their demo car.
Roll on the first service then :worshippy:
Looking forward to your next report......

That's supposed to all part of the fun Grog, learning what all the switches & settings do.
I do like Old Skool simple. My Bandit 12 and GSX11 are very rewarding.
This is just different. Much of the tech can be ignored if not required. Other stuff like the proper cruise control, sports and touring modes, adjustable boost, dash brightness and colours is OK.
There's probably a lot of stuff in front of you all now on your phones, computers, iPads etc that you don't want, need or use, but you still buy them for the stuff you want.
They should make a phone more aerodynamic then.......so l can throw it further :frustrated:
"the brick" was aerodynamic :whistling: :happy1:
Day 2. Up to 492k's now.

Gear change around suburbia wasn't brilliant yesterday. Was OK, but sometimes it sort of jumped a bit going into gear or felt a fraction harsh. I put this down to it being new or the dumb arse owner needing practice. Was fine at speed and the quick shifter was great, just lower gears around the city.
This morning I went into the menu. SETTINGS... SPORT MODE.... QUICK SHIFTER.... OFF. Lower speed lazy size 10 gear changes are now perfect again. Quick shifter is very good but isn't doing me any favours in normaly riding. Very easy to turn it back on when I want to play.
I've switched the quick shifter off on my Ducati as well Tony, it works when giving it some but at normal speed it's not very smooth and I can shift smother without it. Cannot turn off quick shifter on the BMW but it is a lot better then the Ducati even at low revs/speed.

Ride number 3, another 270K's / 168 miles.
Yatala, Bearded Dragon, Canungra, goat track up to Tamborine, Bearded Dragon, Beaudesert, Boonah, Peaks Crossing, Centenary Hyw back to the city.
Quite happy that I did 270ks in sport mode with full boost, a fair bit of mountain roads, and several stop / starts / dicking around, and I still had 2 bars showing on the fuel gauge. My benchmark that I judge fuel range is a town called Childers, 307k from my house when I head North on the highway. Busa and GSX14 made it, the B-King wouldn't.

Is that a '99 Gen 1 there really?
Yeah, couple of the Busa club guys have the "1999 Copper / Bronze" Gen-1's.
The most collectable of the Busa's.
Very first year and the most popular 99 model colour.
I'm looking around at another Busa, not seriously after one, just checking prices at the moment. There was a high mileage Gen-1 for $3,995 but I really fancy a Gen-2 next. Favourite colour is the 2008 model, Blue with gold wheels but I'd take any colour Gen-2 if the price was right.
Looks like Capalaba
Tony I love that Kwaka of yours a lot. sadly could never afford one.
My Suzuki purchase priorities (wife undoubtedly won't permit, she has this weird idea we should pay down mortgage etc) I
1. TL1000R (or TL1000S)
2, Busa Gen 2.
