You can tell if most bikes will pass by how they look as that shows how you look after it .

At 6.15 this morning I put my 6th and final coat of Satin clear coat on my forks.
Thats 6 coats of Satin Black Acrylic and 6 coats of Satin clear cote in total.
Got to say the forks look way better than I ever thought I could make them.

After work I will reassemble Sophies front end (Bike).
Then start playing with the set up.
Different springs and a 10W oil mean I cant really use the same settings as before.

KiwiCol

Yeah ya can, have a few more beers & eat a few more pies!!   :boogie:

Hope it's not too tricky getting it right Speedy. I'd personally start with the same settings as I had previous & work backwards till you find a setting you're happy with. :onya:
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Thanks Col
Will go out with a couple of mates tonight..

However that is exactly how you want to set them up as a start point Simon, then one adjustment at a time and road test until you get it right for you
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

The 14 arrived in Montreal today ...... in a crate...probably the first to touch North America.....in a crate.
She will be on a trans continental train soon???  :P

I seem to recall seeing one over there already from years ago. Can't remember if I saw it on the old ORG or elsewhere though.

Globalrider

That was probably me talking about it years ago Hooli on the old .org
I tried going back to Japan thro a friend to get a manufacturer's statement to import like any vehicle into the USA on emissions but no go. The bike is now 15 years old so exempt - no restriction to import to Canada. If I had bought a first ed. I could of done it a few years ago!
Very few know about this bike here in NA.
I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!

Hooli

I don't think so Stan as I recall pics of a B/W over there wherever I saw it.

I'm still amazed they were never sold over there, a big lazy torquey lump seems ideal for the US/Canada considering distances etc over there.

Commuting to work for 3 days day's. So good (compared to car) to ride throw rush hour traffic.
Get e-mail from Suzuki dealer, my 4-pot pistons and rubbers are finally here  :boogie:
Was trying to ajust fast idle, but had limited time, so did it wrong. Anyway, planing to deal with TP and STP sensors and again with fast idle this Sunday.

Speedy1959

Finally put my bikes front end back together after the front fork refurb..
Preload now on 5 (Before was on Max and still was mushy)
Went for a play and took a screwdriver with me for those tweeks !

Not a sign of an oil leak (which was what started of this whole fork rebuild)

The differences are there for sure..
Not sure if its the thicker 10W oil or the Hagon springs but the changes are a step in the right direction.

Andre

Went for 3 "test" rides this week after and rebuilding the fork. Twice into the Eifel, yesterday down to Luxemburg (444.4 km). After 800 km over all kind of pavements, I am happy with the suspension. Rears were rebuild and set up by a suspension specialist who told me that I don't need other springs for the fork.

100 kg rider, original springs (in spec), 22.7 cSt fork oil. Sag set up to where it should be with 2 rings showing. 21 mm emergency reserve fork travel (10 mm or less would require stiffer springs). Compression and rebound 1 click stiffer than standard.

I always ride alone, so unless I gain lots of weight or take the 14 on the race track I should be fine with the suspension as it is now.

New pistons and seals to 4-pot calipers.
Sunday they should be installed on my 14  :boogie2:

mlivkovich

I haven't done anything today but I brought home a candy for my candy blue 14! :smitten:
I will try 4 pot calipers too! :boogie2:

grog

some very flash stuff, calipers , forks etc. got called into work on a saturday, managed to do oil change, prompted by Andre, did sag check. havent bothered since set up. 30mm both ends, is that ok. feels ok. cold ride home, beer is cold also. not a bad day.

Not sure what you mean by both ends.

30 mm sag is ok for front. My guideline for sag (just the bike sitting on both wheels) is 21-25% of max fork travel. For the 130 mm of the 14 it would be ~27-33 mm.

Rider sag (with rider sitting on bike). Guideline 29-33%. Would be ~38-43 mm for 14.

With 2 rings visible I got 32 mm sag and 42 mm rider sag. Just within the guidelines but with ample reserves. Would probably be fine with 3 rings showing.
