I've had nearly new tyres explode too, not as bad as that but bad enough. Hence why I'll never buy michelin again.

I had a Pirelli car tyre explode 2nd day of use. They blamed the fitter, that was me.

Not because of the tyre issue , but just couldn't do any distance on the 14. So to me what's the point of having it sitting in the garage.
So was sold to Jez , middle of this year

Many years ago riding from Perth to Darwin on a Katana 1100 the chain guard broke in two places and bounced in between the sprocket and the tyre. A broken mount was rubbing on the tyre and eventually cut through tyre wall instantly deflating the tyre at about 120kph. I certainly puckered up for that emergency stop.
May the sun be warm & shining and your roads be smooth & winding.

Perth to Darwin on a Katana, well done, easy for the bike  :clapping:

Thanks Barmy.  I;'d 'like' your post but don't want to endorse BMW's even tangentially...  :rofl2:

The video was quite instructional.  :hat: :hat: @mjgt  @Stepdoug

The tyre age factor comes to mind when you buy a 10 year old bike with the factory fitted tyres still fitted and only a few hundred k's on the clocks.
A friend bought a 1098 Ducati and had noticed the tyre condition, however still thought a quick ride was in order prior to changing them.
Needless to say he wrote the bike off and gashed his thigh pretty badly. Lesson learned the hard way.  :whatever: :whatever:
