Hi all
So the latest thing to go wrong on the bike is stanchions, one is pitted and has ripped he fork seals.
I'd prefer to get them rechromed but £330 plus packaging cost for Philpotts is loads. Brooks I think is  a bit less but 7 week turnaround.
So Im sure these arent going to be good amd the chroming is probably going to come off after a while but  has anyone tried the cheap Chinese ones off Ebay?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/146579103330?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=775ocf4stf6&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=NIoUB6P8TSS&stype=1&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=MORE

I'd rather get both new stanchions, but I can get away with replacing one so I could get a Slinky Glide for around £120 from Brooks if the Chinese ones are not a good option.
Thanks all.

Have you tried rubbing down your faulty one, 2000 grit paper&wd40, new seal and might get  you going for a while.Just a thought

Chinesium fork tubes are cheap for a reason.
I replaced mine with an Italian brand I can't remember the name.
I do remember they were expensive however you get what you pay for nowadays.
When the fitter compared them he thought Suzuki OEM were very good, however comparing the Italian ones he said these should last forever 👍
I guess it depends on your budget and how much hard riding you will be doing.

If you can afford it use Philpotts, when they re-chrome they use hard chrome, not as blingy as std, but very hard wearing, the bonus is you are using OEM stantions which are a known decent quality.
I had mine done by Philpotts over 7 years ago now and no problems  :onya:

I've not found one to ask yet, but anywhere that fixes hydraulic rams etc should be able to do it too & might be cheaper.

I got Italian stantions from brookes suspension in the uk as not much difference in cost .
only a slightly modified gsx1400

perhaps -perhaps- given the price difference with the chinese purchase, the only negative option would be that after a while we have to repeat the operation......OR NOT.
And even more so taking into account that we can do all the work ourselves without needing to go to a workshop.

I went for jmp stanchions from brookes with a complete rebuild, very pleased with them
Thankfully we all like different things, and I like a modded GSX1400

Very pleased! Not as shiny as original as they are hard chromed.

Many places on the net that sell them

TAROZZI are an Italian brand that do a lot of stanchions particularly for classic bikes and the 1400 is almost there.

Just for clarity: TNK stanchions are the same as Tarozzi stanchions.

BTW: Italy has some major industries that produce high quality stuff.

And Italians make the only real Pizza. They wouldn't touch what others deem good pizza; let alone eat it. lol

The concept of "today you get what you pay for" I make valid for certain geographical markets and not valid for the world worldwide.
Depending on the various factors that generate the final price = cost + brand image+ plus, in which case the market logic in use becomes only a geographical prejudice for areas with a low cost.
I think that far above or perhaps at the same level, our fears first and then prejudices/values/ethics lead us to a non-technical conclusion about a purely technical product
Diverse ethics – obviously out of the game here – where we only go to the question of the final price and resulting quality.
Even in many of the supposedly "unchallenged" world super brands, the end result was the cost of experience-hit-mistake-wrong-hit.........

The most wonderful works in history are usually the result of quasi/slave labor
