The relay means I can fit more accessories without overloading the factory wiring if I ever want too.
The only bits you can see are a couple of wires and the relay when the seat is off. The USB unit is tiny, size of a PP3 and half as thick. So it fits on the back of the fusebox bracket to keep it out the way.

Mid job, that flasher unit is a bodge I'll remove one day as you can get proper ones to suit different indicators. I've got a spare, just didn't bother splicing the original wires back together today.

Done, this is all covered by the side panel anyway

Just think what you could accomplish, if you knew what you were doing.  :whistling:  :happy1:  :rofl2:

The actually shiny oil cooler guard arrived from Just Blandits today, unlike the last shiny one I ordered that was matt finished when it arrived. Much nicer than the black one it came with and a better fit as it wraps around the end of the oil cooler. Just the chain guard to come back from the polisher now and the bling is completed.

Same as the one I got years ago for my Black, from Just Bandits too.

I'll update this properly at some point but the damn oil cooler burst yesterday so it's parked in the naughty corner slowly dripping clean.
The bolts for the cooler guard when I got it were too long, I did change them for shorter ones but seems I was too late as it's coming out of a bolt hole. I think it might be possible to cut the threaded boss off, weld the hole and then the boss back on. I can't see why not, but I'll be tempted to want all four doing/checking before I'd trust it.

It's already an aftermarket cooler with the triangular end tanks.

Bugger, probably a chinesium fleabay special.

Will you replace it with a good OEM or aftermarket (e.g. HEL) unit?
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Hooli

Aftermarket definitely, they're better than OEM. But not HEL as I'll get one the correct size and shape.

I might ask my neighbour who can weld if he could fix it, I'm sure it's not that difficult for someone who can weld. Thinking about it today I'll buy one and try to get this fixed as eventually it can then go on my real 14 as that came home with a massively bent one. I suspect a crash and slide into the kerb type event.

I'll stick a pic up at some point but on these aftermarket ones, if the guard bolts are too long they can puncture the side tanks, which is exactly what appears to have happened.

Mr Gee

As Eric said. Bugger.

Hooli, you don't like HEL cooler, why? Aaron another I saw but need to email for price etc. Coolex look the go but concerns on here about top bracket not letting fan breathe, I can't see what that top bit with holes purpose is, fan still covers maybe a 1/3 of fins. Bad  design really, should be in centre of fins. Only oem here in Oz, just on a grand. HEL same price but includes new hoses. Coolex $650. Inc post both. Your thoughts Sir.

Hooli

As far as I'm aware Grog the HEL ones are a different shape which means the guard won't fit and I'm sure I recall people with them having issues with needing to extend the lock stops as the yokes or forks hit the thicker cooler first. Besides I like the look of the original size ones.

grog

Your choice is which brand ?

Hooli

I've gone for coolexperts on ebay, it looks the same as the one I got for my real 14 & that has lasted forever.

The one on the Bloo Thing is already one of these, but using bolts that are too long to mount the guard can crack the end tanks, which is what has happened.

I think I updated you lot else where but to keep this thread complete, the oil cooler burst last week so has been replaced. The shiny oil cooler cover & the polished chain guard have also gone on. That makes it complete bling wise as far as I'm concerned, it's just a case of keeping it clean & tidying up a few bits that are still scruffy.

Yesterday it got a day out around the Peak District again, with the usual black 14 following as I find the best roads. It was a lovely relaxed slow wafty day through pretty villages & gorgeous countryside, the only pic I took was outside the cafe at Monyash.

As has been noted a few times & showed up yesterday the manky downpipes were the bit that really let the Bloo Thing down. So today they've had three goings over with autosol & fine wire wool. They're now acceptable but will get a few more goes for a better shine at some point, they'll never be perfect due to deep scratches which I think was the previous owner slipping with the polishing mop.

With a single going over of one down pipe to see the difference...

Two done

You can see some of the scratches I mean here

The collector box covers got a going over too as they had black spray paint over spray on...

Then it got a wash & put away again, I think it's looking pretty good now. I'm still not used to random people commenting on it looking good when I park up though, that never happens with my bikes normally.

Cheers Col, I think it's been a pretty successful project over all.

Oh, just remembered. The new clock plastics have gone on too. Well almost all of them, they come with no screws & the chrome rings around the clocks have holes too big for the original screws so I reused the old rings as they were fine. I'll rate those aliexpress plastics at 5/10, not only that ring issue but the centre section can't be used because the pins for mounting the microswitches are wrong so you can't use them. Even with it seemingly all together right the RH button isn't working so I had to reconnect the battery at 1pm to set the clock. I'll look again one day but was sick of taking them apart again & again, along with swapping the rubber buttons & few missing bits from my old 14's clocks trying to sort stuff.
