From my previous couple of threads you might have realised that I had a sudden stop resulting in needing new fork tubes.  I'm now thinking this could be the perfect opportunity to go the upside down route.  I've had a look at the conversion table but I'm :confused1:
So can anyone explain whats the simplest donor forks to use and exactly what parts are needed.

Many thanks

Hope you weren't injured during your sudden stop, i've just got my shit together after my sudden falling off due to a van driver last year.

I don't really know what forks are the best for the 14 but you will need:-

Head stock and bearings
Possibly new wheel and disks but if you keep the 1400 front wheel you might need spacers made up
Possibly new brake callipers, pads and lines
Possible fork extenders as most sports bikes have shorter forks than the 1400

It's been done a few times so it's very do-able.  I think there is someone here has done it in the past.  Good luck
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

I reckon @seth would be the go here, or Tony Nitrous.

IMHO unless you're wanting to spend a lot of coin just stick with standard.
USD forks will look very different. I've seen it done but to what effect I'm not sure.
These aren't a focused bike, they do a bit of everything well. That's the appeal for me.

I recall seeing a GSXR1000 front end usd conversion, looks good, but the rest of the bike is far from the capabilities of those forks.  Imho, std is best.  You can get monobloc brembo brakes with the right adapters on "right side up" forks, but again, the std 6 pots are very capable if looked after properly.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I think you're probably right, and after doing more digging it also seems bent forks can be straightened so think I will explore that route first and replace if needed.

Hooli

Check your yokes too, if you've bent the forks then it's quite possible the yokes aren't straight now either.

Got the bike back yesterday, not as bad as i thought but forks will be a replace job, already fitted new engine cover and had it running.  I've taken some measurements from the yolk to points on the bike and both sides are equal so initially look ok, however the Renthal bars are bent.  It's going to be a while before I can tackle the forks as it now looks like I have rotor cuff damage/tear which is limiting left arm movement.

Hooli

Rotor cuff is a bugger, I did mine once & took over two years to stop hurting. But then I'm an idiot who never took it to a Dr or anything.
