Tow truckin´ today

Had to call tow truck today. Second time this year, first got a minor bump from another guy and broke footrest, didn´t fall. Today I was waiting for a red light and all of a sudden complete loss of electrical power. Main 30A fuse blown, tried what I could get nearby, a 25A one, and blew again. Now, 4 months ago I cleaned the starter button pushbutton (mine´s the EU model with main headlight always on). At that time also replaced the reg/rect for a mosfet one. Any ideas ? Maybe will start with starter relay and go from there. Battery´s new.

If you're blowing 30a fuses at standstill it sounds very much you have a short to earth on the main power wire.  Have you got a quality multi meter? if not, now is the perfect time to get yourself a new piece of kit.
First up though, get yourself a collection of spare 30a fuses (and multimeter?) to fit after you do some changes.  I'd start with checking all the earth connections are clean and tight, then try a new fuse, if it blows, then start looking for a worn through wire on the main loom. If that looks ok, open the switchgear & check if there's evidence of arcing / shorting out.  Blowing a 30a fuse would probably leave tell tale marks I'd say.

Just don't turn the bike into a candle whilst you're assessing it . . .

I'd agree it sounds a big short to earth.

Personally before I started sticking more fuses in, I'd put a voltmeter on continuity test between the fuseholder & earth on the non-battery side. You should see connectivity & then start pulling relays, fuses, unclipping bits of the loom. At some point the short should vanish & you've got an area to look in.

If I had to guess I'd say eother the loom where it goes around the headstock as the constant flexing can crack the insulation till it shorts to the frame. Although I'd expect that to blow one of the normal fuses first.
Or the starter solenoid area as that's always live & I think the 30amp fuse lives on the back of it, so is the only one protecting that.

Thanks for the replies. But I found the bloody culprit, spent today whole afternoon troubleshooting.: the regulator/ rectifier I bought 8 months ago. Supposedly this mosfet one should be "state of the art", 3 year warranty,... https://ultimaterectifier.com/?s=suzuki+gsx+1400 Filed a guarantee claim and told the guy I want a reimbursment because I don´t have faith in the product. 15 minutes after that red light I was going to the highway, if the bike failed at 120kph and engine blocked, bloody hell!!
I didn´t even suspect the reg/rect, was the last thing tested. My bike is as new. Great weather here, no moisture in garage I use a dehumidifier even so, all connectors are clean in great shape no rust nothing; bike looks new. Don´t do rain. Couldn´t be the bike. I´m always on to it, like my work, taking care of Airbus´s.

Bloody right, they should change their name. That´s an excellent one! Asked for a reimbursment Ordered an oem from Suzuki, 200€.
Was filming the Wrecktifier like they asked, sent the videos and photos, reply was "we´ll send one, no doubt". I replied that I don´t have faith in the product. Meanwhile during the filming of the video bloody thing started sending out smoke! The 30A fuse  didn´t blow this time. I shouted to my kid, prepare yourself for the fire extinguisher, which is always at hand . Luckily I disconnected the battery on time and no need for the extinguisher. I just hope the ECM is healthy at this point; at least the connector is normal, no burn signs.
The conclusion of this whole episode: some parts, especially electrical, stick to OEM.

Yeah the Rec/Reg went on mine just before boarding the Fishguard ferry what a bugger! luck I got one on the other side after a bit of an ordeal searching - when I got back home I bought a spare - never had to use it since then - that was 12 years ago!
I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!

I got sick of Suzuki's poor choice of buying in substandard Reg/Rec's after being initially told there was no problem, then getting a recall for a new one, then getting a recall for the recalled part !

I changed mine to a MOSFET one and it's been fine for years now. I guess there are good and bad ones like most things.
I'd happily fit another as I've had no problems with it unlike Suzuki's supplied version.

Now I'm wondering whether that is part of my rough running issues. May refit the original, but the rough running happened before I replaced the oem rectifier, after i had bad fuel...
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Your Forseti Reg does not say anywhere that it uses MOSFET technology
A Reg Hitech is around $200 and for half the price they will always give us camouflaged chinese

Dunno how you lot have so many reg/rec issues, mine was still original when it got nicked.

Now my* Hornet is a different matter because Honda, it had another one this summer & I'd fitted one about 4 years ago as well.

*technically but I never see it.

 Those who use MOSFET Tech announce it with great fanfare because it is the latest and most efficient technology.
Be careful that they even go so far as to say mosfet type to make the buyer dizzy who is only looking for that word
