RIP Ozzy, thanks for the memories.

It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."

I didn't see him with Sabbath, but did see him half a dozen times when he went out on his own. Always a good show when he turned up...I remember traipsing three miles across fields to catch a train to Leicester to see him at Demontfort Hall, only to be told when we arrived that the gig was cancelled.

A security guy told us that the official reason was that Ozzy had laryngitis, but in fact he was at a nearby hotel, too out of his head to perform. My disappointment was tempered by me thinking, "It's Ozzy, not the greatest surprise is it?"
There's always room in the world for a bit more tolerance and kindness.

Quite a few comments today about his past use of acid for two years straight as well as abusing other drugs and alcohol. Talk about rock n roll lifestyle so most were surprised he'd lived this long. Packed quite a few lifetimes in to this one. I did try to listen to their music on Spotify today. It may have been groundbreaking at the time.

Mama, I'm Coming Home! RIP Oz
I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!

RIP Ozzy, paranoid was the first heavy metal track I ever heard and it changed my life forever.  Black Sabbath changed the world of music and many owe them a debt of gratitude.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

I listen to a bit of Sabbath when I'm out cycling.....it helps with the cadence and the hills.

Was lucky to see Ozzy in the 80s several times, even the legendary Hammersmith Odeon in '89, saw Black Sabbath on their final tour in Manchester.  Complete showman!

I couldn't bring myself to go to the final gig, I just thought it would be too so sad; it broke my heart when he came up through the stage on the throne...

My partner and I decided to visit Birmingham after the concert to see the mural and bench, thought it would be quieter... On Friday 25th of July, it wasn't but I'm glad I go to see the tributes!
