Thanks for the advice guys. Sorry for the late reply. I've just gotten around to getting my tank off and wow! It is rusty as hell and full of crap. I've emptied what I can but there is still fuel sloshing around in there. I ordered an external fuel filter as recommended and went for the proflow 30 micron fuel filter with 5/16 barbs (PFE610-05P) as used by some other forum members.

Does anyone have any tips for getting all the fuel and crap out of the tank? I'm going to probably use vinegar with nuts and bots but still can't get all the fuel out.

I bought these clamps to secure the hose to the filter https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_nkw=5%2F16+fuel+line+clamp%23&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_sop=15

Also, I looked for that Dayco DSHB8F0 part to deal with the hose bend but the search results I get are for s bend fittings instead of 90 degree fittings. Does anyone have a links to a 90 degree fitting to deal with that hose kink?

Cheers everyone, Graham.

hat, you have some work ahead of you, just very bad, maybe the electicity way as described by Andre. Tank, filter etc needs to be spotless in my world, biggest cause of bad running.

I recon you have found your problem anyway. The HP filter will be full of that crud as well, the teabag may clean up but I got 5 from Ali-express for a few ££ also available on Ebay, so new cheapo Hayabusa filter off ebay, the hose that you need/want is I think part No 44128-42F10 from Suzuki UK £35.14, Webike Japan it is £7.84 plus the postage and try to clean up the swirl pot where the teabag sits. My original swirl pot was not quite as bad, I scratched about with a pick and wire wool and it came OK with rust remedy then I managed to find another that was much better but they are hens teeth things and not available as a lone part, comes with a complete pump which are about £550 on webike again. To get all the fluid out of the tank, stand it on its end and get a vacuum suction pump with long hose on should work, or swirl it around with pump and sender unit removed should also work. Nice little project but the benefits will be massive

Hi Guys, I managed to get everything out by getting a shop vac and sucking it out of the tank. This worked quite well.

I've got the new filter in the post (proflow 30 micron fuel filter with 5/16 barbs - PFE610-05P) along with some 13-15mm Jubilee clips.

However, I've only just realised that I can't reuse the old fuel line. I notice people saying that you just use any EFI fuel hose. However, they seem to come in a bunch of different sizes. From what I can deduce, the hose I need is 8mm or 5/16 EFI Fuel Hose. Is this right?

Also, just as a double check, it is the pictured hose below that I replace with the new hose and proflow filter, right?

Cheers , Graham

Mate , on the right track. Use proper EFI clamps, a bit of pressure in those hoses. Any 8mm/ 5/16 efi hose. You can use old hoses but thats it , they are old. JIS connectors will cut out of old hose, single side razor blade, be careful, fingers slice easily. They are tough to get into new hose, hot water& patience will work. Filter will locate centre rear of tank, make a bracket, Snapey one is on here somewhere, mine just lives in an old foam stubby cooler with cable tie around it, never a problem. Lets know how you go👍

hat22

Nice! Love the good use of stubby holders.

Cheers guys. I ordered the 5/16 (8mm) EFI hose today and will pick up some smaller jubilee clips for it soon.

I'll do as you suggest Grog and let you know how it goes.

You need efi high pressure clamps Mate.bolt type are far better than worm drive.

Make sure the fitting
Whatever kind you go for is up to the job and can take the correct pressure last thing you need is it coming off when your riding far from any help or at a higher speed.
A mate had a custom line due to the bike being highly modified and used the wrong kind of hose and clamp the clamp damaged the hose and it parted several times till we got proper reinforced petrol hose (if your cutting the standard hose it's fine but will still need the correct clamp)
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

Just wondering who has done significant mileage on one of the knockoff hayabusa fuel filters ? I think after a couple of cleanouts its time to turf it not keen on the oem route and not ready to go the external filter yet.

Thanks
Horse,
Change is easy improvement somewhat more difficult :Dr Porsche

TBH I've not fitted mine yet, it's sat on the shelf for when I need it.

"significant mileage"??? 8k km ago into very clean (!) tank installed. No problems so far noted. No, I have not tested its filtering qualities. That's the main criteria! Not tested its resistance to the pump either. Flow and pressure after it are ok. Your mileage may vary depending on their quality control, the dirt in your tank, and your fuel quality. Goes for the oem stuff as well  :coffeescreen:

I'll be happy to test it if someone sends me an oem filter, a knockoff filter, a pump, and other needed stuff (all new).  :rofl2:
