Any one purchased a spare key and is it just a case of getting it cut and your done? It's for a 2004 model, so non immobilised I think.....another one I'm looking at

A spare for a none immobiliser model can be got from any key cutting place with no issues just ask them to match what you have

Most locks are so worn any key will work too...

I had to fit a new ignition switch to my K2, I'm still using the original key though as it works in the new lock. Saved me changing the fuel cap or seat lock.

If there's no large black section around the lock then it's deffo not immobilised.

Would my (Australian delivered) K7 have an immobiliser?

That's what the little red light by the side of the key is.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Ah ok. I think basic immobilisers are of no benefit whatsoever to preventing theft, and just make new keys more expensive and problematic.

Depends who's nicking it. They do stop the 'ram a screwdriver in & ride off' sort, they won't stop the 'load it in a van & strip it for parts' types though.

They are definitely a benefit in the UK where bike theft is rife at the moment. Even if the skinny little tracksuited and "Ballied" chavs do manage to summons up the strength to actually wheel one away, they are unlikely to be able to get it started thanks to the coded key system.
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!
