Gsx1400 2001 fuel filters without brass threaded hole on end. Every one for sale has these holes, mine has no holes. So difficult to find mine. What are the threaded holes for? Can I use these filters?

Bike will not start even using starting fluid can hear fuel pump running for about 30 seconds which seems a bit too long to me presume it needs new filter possibly fuel pump

I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Yes, 30 seconds is too long, I reckon the pressure regulator is toast or it's bypassing fuel pressure somewhere else.  Should only take a few seconds to prime and build pressure in the fuel rail.

Maybe the reg has fallen away from its clips, but, doesnt explain why no start with fuel spray into air intake, is that what you did? Not really sure of what youve tried.

Wow that's cheap compared to genuine!

As to your running issue, is the O-ring in place on the exit of the filter where it fits back to the filter bowl? any leak there loses pressure back into the tank.

thanks to all.  the bike has sat for 2 years indoors with monthly startups. recent attempts to start, failed, with no hint of firing. added new 98 fuel,  tried ether spray and had a few coughs. thats it.  i presume filter blockage, or fuel pump, as the bike was untouched and now will not start. i have ordered a filter and pump , and hope that is the issue

the bike was untouched except for regular startups

I'd try grog's idea then.

The metal valve that fits to the top of the fuel filter has a tendency to fall off when the white plastic clip comes loose. That'll cause pretty much what you describe.

As for what the brass threaded holes are for, no idea. I presume the fittings are slightly different in other bikes, but they'll be blind holes so I can't see them causing any issue on a 14.

Having seen how cheap those are I've ordered one as a spare to put on the shelf, I find the filters block after 50k miles or so which means my current one is nearly half used.

yes they are cheap, plenty available in oz.     at 80,000 it is probably in order

The brass threaded holes are to mount the fuel gauge of the Hayabusa K2-K7. Note the title in the ebay ad.

I recently fitted one of these cheap filters in my 14. Works "plug and play".
