Hi all i have a problem ive read the stuff on here about the problem but need to ask question ..spring preload black nob with s/h on it ..the black nob turns makes a slight click but is not adjusting any thing both shocks do this .no oil leak .is it a easy fix to get the nobs working ? If so how  ? Is there a way to manualey adjust them to the same settings id be happy if i could get both shocks stuck on the same settings ..i didont realize when i bought the bike that on shock was on setting 4 and the other set on number 1 .ive done 6000 miles like this only realizing when i decided to adjust them .am due a mot in a month and cant afford the high price of new shocks .all so hagon do standard shocks for 150 pound not as nice looking thow .thanks

That's unusual if they turn but don't move Mark, given you are getting the click, normally they jam solid. The one on one ring sounds a bit odd, have you tried spraying some WD40 around the unit itself to see if that frees it?
Personally I'd take each shock off, give a good clean and inspection to see if there was anything obvious as if the knobs turn and click then they should be moving. You only need to look at the main part of the Shock, the gas cylinder on the back won't need any attention.

Thanks they do click and i can feal the click one clicks a bit more than the other more of a noticiable click but bothe do click a bit .i will try wd40 today pissed as i bought it from a shop but be ing only 8 stone in weight ive never noticed any thing bad but defo like it when i bought the bike .could they hsve drained the oil out ? I have no oil leaks ..do the nobs come off? Whats under the nob?

If they both click when you turn them to new position, they're both working I'd say.

8 Stone?  set 'em both on 2 would be my suggestion & see how that feels.

The knobs do come off but with difficulty, not a simple remove and replace. No they couldn't have drained the oil out Mark, and if you have no visible leaks then I expect yours are still full of oil. Even with keeping the bike immaculate they can jam up, so hopefully a bit of WD40 (or Plus Gas if you have it), and some turning off the knobs will free them, it would be better if you could do that with the shock removed as then there is no pressure on them from the weight of the bike. May take a few goes, but hopefully they will free up doing that

i agree, one or two is all you need. spray away, around black nob. push it in before turning. once turning, spray again. have saved mine several times.

Result! I agree Mark, 4 rings is a bit high, maybe drop them down to 3, thank that will be much better.

Also look at the MCN settings for front and rear, that may help

You might also want to change your fork oil sometime, that makes a big difference as well (and its not on the service schedule), did mine every 2 years.

Two is plenty for your weight. Im not a fan of mcn settings, too harsh. Spend best bucks youll ever spend on 14, get front n rear serviced and set up by expert. You can then feel front and back working together. How it should be. My only adjust since doing is up rear springs one or two with wife n luggage. Makes life easy.
