Anyone fitted hand guards to their 14?

Yep. See photo in GoPro mounts. I think they are Barkbuster, Storm model.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Yes I had the handguards from the early VStrom 650 fitted to my 14

Mine are DL1000 (Strom) but attached to a bar end weight ... see photo's. I only bought the plastic guards & made the other bits in stainless steel.

Dale Booth has different model Strom guards that look similar but don't attach to an end weight. All the relevant parts needed to fit he bought from a Suzuki dealer.

Both are definitely better than the Barkbuster Storm as they allow much better wind protection.
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

I presume that is the point of these? (in the context of our bikes) - protection from cold wind?

Do they offer additional protection over and above what winter gloves do in that regard?

Just curious as I've personally never understood this.

(If you need them to bust bark, you're doing it wrong! ) :)

Correct they deflect cold wind and rain. Additional bonus is that they offer some protection to levers if the bike topples over.

Great for touring

Thanks for all your replies, I will look into it further so any more pics and options welcome.  I want to fit wider bars hand guards and heated grips over the next few months.

yes ive fitted the sw- motech you can see from pictures there is now messing around with different bolts bar end weights there bolt on only thing you have to do is just move your mirrors on the master cylinders and get them balanced set up right but a hours job and that's taking it easy .

Mick_J

That looks great spizzoil, not sure I will have enough space to fit them, depends on what bars I get but I will look into them, do they flex much without end support?

i thought this when i got them but lets say in head wind and fast speeds lets say on a track they were spot on no flex but they were about £90 off ebay so not cheap

I fitted V-strom 1000 handguards for the beginning of last year, I rate them too, I made some fittings to suit to fit the Renthals and they look the part, I'm keeping them on too.
