Thanks Kja, I've just bought a new set of them off fleabay and I have black handlebars on order and am going to fit heated grips.

I'm not going for heated grips just yet, as so far the handguards deflect enough of the breeze from my hands, especially on a cold morning, I have to wear thin gloves as I suffer with "white finger", I simply cant wear the thicker gloves, or ride all year round anymore.

That's why I'm doing it, I don't like the cold so heated grips and handguards  should keep me going in the colder months, works on my tiger so here's hoping.

So these are the parts you need from an early DL1000 VStrom (bolts required are items 5 and 11 from the second diagrammatic - you can use the existing nuts off the GSX1400 brake lever bolts. Not cheap, but work well and bolt straight on with no modification required

@Snapey

Barmy,

You had aftermarket levers on yours didn't you. Did they still work ok with them?

Thanks.

Absolutely had no problem with them at all - but I know the ones that affix to the end of the bars that some in the past have said they can touch.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement :lol:

Thanks. Hadn't been something I'd really thought of doing but will definitely help with my daily commute.

For those interested, this place has them quite a bit cheaper than Robinson's Foundry.

Find someone with a lathe & turn something up. I made mine out of 316 stainless to fit the Pro Taper bars.
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

looking good  :cheers:

That's one thing they aren't Seth ... good looking, but the benefits outweigh the ugliness.

I like the look of them. They also look slightly higher than the later v strom handguards so hopefully give more protection from the elements

According to the advert on eBay the ones I bought are for the 2004 1000cc V strom..

They seem to be the later rather than earlier ones (which I had fitted to mine) as mine didn't clip to the bar end. Look good though!

I have the late ones and they are not the same.
