Highest flow air filters (and air box mods)

I have read that K&N air filters flow less than standard , but then that you can enlarge the inlets on them for more flow?

What is the latest on which air filters flow most, to keep up with upcoming engine mods.

Also I have read a few times about airbox mods but not what is actually done. What is done to the air ox to improve flow?

Anyway to answer your question
In an air box
The standard original Suzuki filters flow the most air .
Followed by a k&n flowing next best air .
Modern Suzuki filters are apparently not as good but I can't confirm that .
Hi-flo and the likes (dna)are ok in standard motors but may struggle in more free flowing engines.
These results were all tested many years ago on a dyno by doing a run changing the filter and re run and repeat .
The results were posted on the original org but unfortunately have been lost over time.
If your going down the route of pod filters you'll need to remap the bike to correct the air mix.
Pod filters do not flow more air than standard as the throttle bodies restrict the flow into the engine.

Suzuki original are the best filters to use on a standard bike but it you want to use HiFlo there is a slight restriction in them as they have a tube in the neck which runs half way down the filter body, should be okay on a standard bike but if you want to modify it you need to cut/dremel the tube out but then you will have a flat top to the filter which can let water in when you wash the bike.  I glued an old copper exhaust gasket around the top to stop this when I did mine.

The less restrictive air filters I found are those ones: Simota
This, together with unrestricted downpipes, and a dyno-ed PCIII give quite good results.

I dont need to change air filters, KN works for me. Simota i checked out, far cheaper, similar system. Just clean and refit. Seems a great option. 👍
