I needed to remove the rear springs from another bike, but this should work on most other variants.
Started off rummaging through threaded-bar, angle-iron, various nuts/bolts ect. to cobble up a spring compressor, then after an hour or so, I had to move a 40 year old trolley jack & a 'spark' lit, here was the 'tool' it just needed a slight mod.
I had a metre or so of 2mm x 15mm flat steel bar, cut 2 pieces to suit the units, made a hook-return  at both ends, one hooks under the trolley-jack side-frame, the other (top) is bend at a slight angle to suit the spring-spiral & has a wrap to protect the paint, couldn't find the shrink-wrap so I used tape, also, one strap is a bit shorter to allow for the spring-spiral, this allows the unit to remain vertical.
Now for the good bit, hook the straps into the top of the spring, hook the lower ends under the side-frames, sit the unit in the jack-pad, wind her up & the whole sherbang falls to bits, a few seconds & all is perfectly safe & stable, reverse is just as easy, cost ZILCH.
So, dear comrades, if you already have a little trolley-jack, your'e almost there.

You just need a couple of ratchet straps to compress the spring on a 14, loop em through the spring back on each other,  takes 2 mins. you dont need to compress em much to get the collet out. then just release each strap a bit at a time.
