Why do you think it's running hot anyway? 14s hardly ever do that, they are over cooled as standard.

PHILLR

Hello again one and all.

Hooli, KiwiCol and steve porter thank you ever so much for the advice much appreciated it really is.
mjgt thanks for the invite to North Somerset to help me out if it wasn't so far  would take you up on the offer, shame the original Severn bridge or the new Prince Charles bridge didn't start in Whitmore Bay (Barry) linking over the channel to Somerset.

Thanks again guys and remember to always ride defensively LOL

I`m wondering why you think its running hot too? Whats actually happening? You say its been serviced previously, therefore the oil can`t be that bad. Is the oil level within the limits on the sight glass? If so, its unlikely to be the issue (if indeed there is one).

When you do change the oil yourself, be sure to buy a new sump plug and washer - and make sure you fit the washer the right way up, (its the opposite way to the way you may think!!), otherwise you`ll not get a satisfactory seal.

Hooli

Meh, I've changed that washer once in over 160k miles. The reseal fine. I only changed it as I got a filter from a dealer and they included it.

Sump plugs n washers getting up there in the can of worm department, almost with tyres and oil. Fumoto much better option for me. 😎

Although I no longer own a GSX1400, I'd be glad to help out a fellow 1402 owner. I used to do ALL my own maintenance including a full strip and ground up nut and bolt rebuild. I had to give up riding for health reasons :furious:

If you're at Barry,I'm only 30 miles away in Cwmbran. If we get a dry sunny day you're welcome to pop over to mine with oil, filter and a new sump plug washer and I'll go through changing the oil with you. I'll even dispose of the old oil. I mix it with creosote to weather proof my shed/workshop :imrgreen:
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

Froudy, an offer he cant refuse. All accolades to you.  :hat:

Must admit I had no trouble with my Fumoto until I went through that deep pothole on an unsealed road. My fault, expensive lesson learned.  I'd have another one, just stay away from deep holes & high speed bumps.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Col, i reckon stock plug wouldve also been damaged in your instance/bad luck moment. Just my opinion.

Two offers of help in two days, what a forum.
I understand that the distance to my place is a problem for you but Froudy is quite close and he knows what he's doing, good luck.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick
