Is it just me or can other people remove their key from their ignition barrel while bike is running (ignition on position) ?

I haven't tried, but it's not uncommon with worn barrels in both cars and bikes.

YEs mine has done that for some time I think it's the wear and tear over 20 years. One side of my key turns easier than the other also.  :whatever:

Nope, mine is trapped when ignition on / engine running
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

OK cool nothing to worry about then. :)

Mines the opposite sometimes, hard to get key in then hard to turn. Bit of jiggling required. Ive seen the videos/threads on how to fix. Bit fiddly for me, Mates a Locksmith, will employ his talent one day.

I have the same issue as Grog.

My K5's barrel is obviously worn and sometimes takes some jiggling to get the key in or out.

The ability to remove the key does have an advantage - you can remove it, unlock the seat and check the fault codes if there's an issue. Every cloud...  :hat:

This is the only reason I couldn't ride my 14 home from the crash at easter. The key started to fall out & the clocks hit it & bent it. There's no way it'd straighten without snapping so I couldn't get the bike running again as it'd managed to turn itself off too.

I know when I stripped the lock barrel down the brass tumblers where very worn so that's probably why.

Rebuild the lock, I put up a guide how to once. It's simple enough if you take your time & keep the parts in order.

Hooli if you can find it here let me know and I'll create a stand alone doc for the downloads section.

I suspect it's lost in the 'what did you do to your bike today' thread.
